MHA, Landlord's apartment, Friday
Jon had told Irene yesterday that he liked to read or watch nice stories to relax, when he could. It occurred to him that even though they weren't...filling, so to speak, he should probably still make more time for them, especially after what had been a fairly draining day.
So, he would be doing that. But he was also absolutely going to shift the sign outside to let people know he was in if they needed anything, because as much as he barely understood what this job was, he was still going to do his best at it.
Hopefully this time he wouldn't end up tied to another fear entity.
[Open for your Jon or MHA needs!]

And while he had spent the last five years or so living on his boat, there was a bit of a difference between Mexico and Maryland, and Billy wasn't exactly loving the idea of wintering over on the boat.
So, there he was, walking into the apartment complex he had been looking at for the last few weeks, finally ready to admit defeat and consider apartment life. At least for the time being. He paused at the door that was marked as "Manager" and then gave a knock.

Jon wasn't even going to attempt not to compel this strange, large, dangerous-looking man who had showed up at his door.

"Yeah I was looking for a place to stay. Been here on the island for a few weeks and looks like I am going to be stuck here for the foreseeable future. Not to thrilled with the idea of spending the winter on a rinky houseboat out in the harbor... Wanted to see if there were any available apartments here and if you were looking for a new tenant."
Billy stopped and blinked slightly, surprised at how much he had divulged all at once. He had planned on just asking if there was any open apartments. Where did all the rest of that come from?

He paused, about to bring out an application, then realised there wasn't really anywhere to sit and fill it out, and sighed. "Please, come in. We can, um, use my table."

"So, how many tenants do you have here already?" Billy asked as causally as he could manage.
He was hoping for a low number. Lower the better as far as he was concerned. Having neighbors at all was going to be a bit of adjustment after getting so comfortable to having virtually no one around out on the boat.

He found the paperwork to fill out and set it on the dining room table along with a pen, waving Billy at it. "Fill in whatever you can.
"Facilities are all on this floor. Laundry is free; ignore the coin boxes. I've just not been able to get them off."

Taking the pen, Billy began filling out the papers, writing Billy Coleman (not his real name of Coen) on the top line. He worked his way through the application, trying to be as vague as he could in some areas- military experience yes but no details provided since none were explicitly asked for. When he was finished he picked up the papers and handed them to Jon.
"Don't have any references to list. Hope that's not too big of an issue."

He made a note on the paper and stuck it in a drawer with the rest of the building's information, then grabbed a set of keys.
"By the way, my name is Jon. I teach at the school when I'm not here."

"I ended up here rather involuntarily myself, but it hasn't been bad so far."

"No. That's fine. My stuff is still on the boat out in the cove just down the way" he said nodding his head in that general direction. "I can move a few things in. It should be fine."

Since he'd just had to go over that with Faye.

"Of course." Jon nodded. "I'll see you around."
