Covent Garden Flowers, Saturday

There were signs of some kind of plant struggle when Lucille opened up the shop this morning, and some of the flowers looked a bit withered. None of that was anything to worry about of course, and Lucille swept some dead leaves off the floor and then put on a record to create a nice atmosphere.

It was time for an inventory of the flower pots and planters, and Lucille wrote lists in spidery letters, thinking that she should perhaps ask her employees for suggestions for what to get for the upcoming holiday. Or perhaps Tisarwat?

The nice thing about having an idea like the one that had currently struck Ignis (although, really, he'd been considering it for a while now) was that he didn't have to travel far from the apartment at all to pursue it. So that Saturday, after the usual routine of work out, breakfast, and tidying up, he went on downstairs to the flower shop below.

"Good afternoon, Lucille," he greeted the shopkeeper with a nod. "I hope the day is treating you well so far?"

"Well, I was wondering..." Ignis started, "...I imagine we're quite getting out of the proper season for them, but do you have and gladiolus in stock, by chance? We had one, briefly, in the apartment, and I've found I rather liked the pop of interest and color it gave the place..."

Plus, he thought maybe it would be good for there to be something for Seivarden to take care of when they weren't there, but he wasn't about to mention that part out loud.

And also, it was kind of funny for when they were around, too.

"Red is a bit more...dramatic than I was envisioning," Ignis admitted, "but they'll do just fine. They certainly won't be missed in that case, at any rate, and it could give me an excuse to do a little bit of mild redecorating to match..."

"While much can be said for the drama of the bright and bold," said Ignis, with a faint grin back, "never underestimate the understated power of a subtle floral nuance, Lucille. The ones I had in mind to emulate were a rather clean and classic white, though I suppose the red will help us avoid any cases of....mistaken identity."

He chuckled lightly to himself for that one before moving over to give the blooms a closer look.

"These are quite striking, though. I think they'll do nicely. I don't suppose you have a nice porcelain vase to contain it as well?"

"Well," Ignis considered that changes already being made and how best to work with them, "the original one was a very nice dark blue lined with a subtle white. I should think....if we're going with red, then perhaps a solid black might not be a bad choice. Nice and round, to make for a good centerpiece for a table."

"You keen eye," Ignis complimented, after coming over to take the pot and give it a closer inspection for himself, "is a testiment to your good taste, Lucille. I believe this will do quite nicely."
