It felt weird to think that she had been back at Fandom a month after everything had happened. Six weeks ago it felt like that nothing would ever be alright again and that she would have been locked up for what she’d done. She did miss working with Hellboy and Abe and Professor Bruttenholm but after what she had done to those agents she couldn’t go back, she wasn’t sure if she would be able to go back.

Despite everything Liz was starting to feel hopeful that she’d made the right choice in moving back and she hadn’t felt that in a long time. She’d gone to her first therapy session, which had been a lot to process but it was something that she needed to do.

The Photo Hut was going well, she got to work with photography and she was really enjoying spending time with Prompto and had enjoyed their date the other day. It had been so long since she had done something that was normal. She knew that she’d have to tell him about her, especially if there would be more dates … she wasn’t sure if she should get her hopes up or not. If she told him … she wasn’t sure she could handle his rejection, even though she knew she would more than deserve it.

She had spent her morning taking photos around Fandom for her new display wall at the shop and had decided to stop by the bakery and get a mint chocolate cake since it had been a while since she had had one and after a quick photo for Instagram, she started to eat it, looking through the photos she had taken already with her camera.

Billy still had a lot to do with getting the last of his things into the apartment before the weather turned absolutely terrible. But he needed a break and a little boost of energy so there he was, walking into the bakery with a cup of coffee already in hand.

As he stood at the counter getting one of the oversized Apple Cider muffins, he looked around, giving Liz a slight nod when they made eye contact.

She smiled, “good afternoon, Billy,” she said, as she recalled his name, “how have you been?”

Billy retuned the smile with a small one of his own. "Been busy. Getting everything moved off the boat and into my new apartment before the weather gets too terrible."

A slight pause as he shrugged.

"Not that I have all that much to get moved in the first place.... how are things with you? Everything good at the Photo Hut?"

She nodded,”it’s going pretty well … it’s been nice to work with photography again, I didn’t always have the chance to do so back home,” she smiled, “I’m actually really looking forward to the colder weather personally, I love winter,”

"I'm not a huge fan of the cold but it can be beautiful. Just a bit of shock is all and wasn't looking forward to going from Cancun weather to a foot of snow while living on a houseboat." Billy chuckled as he ran a hand through his hair, pushing it back. "I'm adventurous but not THAT adventurous!"

Liz grinned, “I can see why you’d want an apartment for winter, that’s quite a different change in weather,” she said, “I love the snow but I’m definitely a fan of staying warm,” which was kind of ironic she supposed but she kept that thought to herself, “I moved back to Fandom from New Jersey so it hasn’t been to much of a difference weather wise for me,”

"I honestly have never done more than visited snow so... this should be fun" Billy stated dryly. "Always seemed to end up in warmer places... grew up in Texas, served in Africa, lived the last few years in Mexico, and had been heading for the Bahamas when I ended up here" Billy said with a vague wave around. "If it gets too chilly, I may be wintering over in the apartment. Does the island have food delivery?" he asked with a smirk.

“I spent my childhood in the south, grew up in Kansas,” she said softly, fondly, “I never saw snow til I got to Newark, it was rather mesmerising,” there was a pause, “I remember food delivery being popular when I was a student so I’m assuming it still is?” she said, “even though you may order one dish and get several, at least that’s how it was …someone always seemed to have leftover food in the common rooms,”

"Oh extra food is always nice" Billy said, raising an eyebrow in surprise. "Especially since I am still trying to find a job or something here since it seems I will be staying for the foreseeable future."

“You weren’t originally here by choice then?” Liz asked curiously.

"I'm here for the first time now. Was leaving Cancun heading for the Bahamas... next thing I know I am waking up here floating out in the cove, no clue how I got there or anything."

A pause as he counted on his finger for a quick moment.

"And no less than 6 attempts to get off the island, each one failing. So, seems I am here, like it or not."

"Oh ... that's certainly different, I think most people who are here are here by choice but it wouldn't surprise me if the island had other plans for some," she said, "a few do leave but then they came back, myself included," she added, "I graduated in 2010 and lost contact for a while but ... things got a bit ...chaotic at home," it was a bit of an understatement, "so I decided to return here for a while and it's been nice to have things be ...," she wasn't going to use the quiet word because she knew how Fandom worked, "a lot calmer than back home,"

"I can understand that. It's definitely a lot calmer and slower here than it was back home. But I guess its a bit unfair to compare a place like this to Cancun" Billy said with a slight chuckle. "Will have to see what happens once the weather warms up again. Will be interesting to see how an actual white Christmas goes though and what all goes on here."
