Community Center Class: Beyond Cup Noodle; Thursday Evening [11/11].
While Ignis's approach to this class these days was focused heavily on trying to consider what would prevent any raging kitchen fires and what might potentially allow him to not have to use the mop bucket ready and within reach, this week was a bit....inspired because he had earlier been helping Prompto prepare some snacks for his little "cat date" that evening. And while Prompto made for a much more competent (if somewhat distractable) student than the ones that gathered every Thursday evening in the community center, he hoped these would be simple enough that even they could manage something edible and enjoyable out of it.
"Out of all the convenience foods at our easy disposal," he began, "snacks are probably the most ubiquitous, and also possibly the most abused. I'm sure we've all been there," he actually had not, but he was trying to be relatable here, "when we crack open a bag of crisps with the intention of just having a few, and, before you know it, you've reached the bottom of it with nothing to show for it but crumbs, greasy fingers, and empty calories. The urge to snack does not have to lead to a handful of processed tidbits and regrets. Today, I will be teaching you three different easy and homemade snacking options that will curb those cravings in a much more satifying way. We have a light and sweet caramel kettle corn, we will...attempt a baked potato chip, and, somewhat...ambitiously," this was definitely where Ignis was making a concession to the idea that this class would always involve considerable clean-up, "a treat colloquially known as puppy chow.

Listen to the Lecture - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
Also, don't mind him as he puts additional emphasis on the fact that a popcorn popper and an air fryer are wonderful additions to the kitchen of anyone looking to cut costs and eat more whomesomely at home, though he does so with reluctance, because he does mildly fear what hell might be wrought from a popcorn maker in the homes of at least two of his students....
Make Snacks - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
He hopes.
That includes being surprised by something he was not actually prepared and ready for, because if there was one thing that was consistent in this class...
Re: Make Snacks - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
Unfortunately just because he was actually decently dressed - it didn’t translate into new and improved cooking skills.
After the whole thing with the caramel the other week, Goose decided to try baking potato chips instead and it didn’t take long for smoke to start appearing in the oven.
“Uh oh,” Goose blinked at the smoke coming out of the oven.
Goose should clearly not be allowed near an oven at this point.
Re: Make Snacks - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
What was it they said, about insanity? Repeating the same things and yet hoping that, this time, the results would be different...?
Still, Ignis took just a moment to sigh and think back on all the things that could have possibly have gone wrong in his life to lead him to this moment, before grabbing something to wave away the smoke before the smoke detectors got a whiff of it in the hopes that at least by now Goose would know to remove the scorched snacks from the oven before things got any worse.
"And what," he proposed, "do you think it was this week, Goose? Temperature or time? Surely, it can't be the new clothes..."
Ignis was a Fashion GuyTM. Of course he had to mention it.
Re: Make Snacks - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
“Uh that was the temperature …” he said, “I really thought they could have handled the extra heat,” he looked down at the remains of his attempt once he had removed them from the oven, “they were so small,”
Goose this was why you were banned from your captain’s kitchen after the incident with the cookies.
Re: Make Snacks - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
And Ignis was suddenly realizing what class on the schedule was Goose's and sincerely hoping his approach to engineering was much, much more precise than his approach to cooking...
Re: Make Snacks - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
“Oh,” he blinked down at the remains, “that explains what happened with the cookies that one time,” and it turns out was his only time trying to bake with with Captain Foxx’s kids.
Re: Make Snacks - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
And this time proved to be no different ....
He finished with decent looking Puppy Chow snacks so that was good, but his work area was quite the mix of gooey chocolate, sticky peanut butter, and a healthy dusting of powdered sugar that had gotten all over the place.
"At least it's edible?" he offered to Ignis with a sheepish, apologetic grin.

"The important thing," he said, "is that you at least learned something and enjoyed yourself, and, of course, that you feel the mess was well worth it in the long run, I suppose."

So that withering look turned slightly apologetic as she looked back toward Dwight.
"My culture," she explained, "is a little..." Understatement, but she was trying to think of the nicest way to put this, "...finicky...when it comes to..." Her expression looked less-than-impressed, "finger foods."
Especially messy ones that one was apparently supposed to mix with their hands and have it apparently be a fun part of the process!
Re: Make Snacks - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
"Yeah I can understand that... these are not exactly the best choice for a mess-free snack. Though, I will let you in on a little secret," he said with a smirk. "I actually used a spoon for most of it. Sh-h-h-h don't tell Ignis!" Dwight said with a little wink.
Re: Make Snacks - Beyond Cup Noodle, 11/11.
There was, however, another unfortunate look toward the counter, the mess, and the food that it had spawned, because no amount of spoons could change the method in which it was made, unfortunately.

He had a big spoon for her, if it was that much of an issue.
