Wellspring Arms Firing Range, Wednesday
Steve had made arrangements with the shop owner to use the shooting range on a weekly basis, but that didn't mean he wasn't there early to give the entire place an obsessive inspection himself. He had pulled out ear, eye and head protection (safety was more important than looking particularly great) and he was checking his weapon one more time as he waited for Will to arrive. "I'm not teaching you how to shoot," he told the little green face he caught peeking around the corner. "You're like a foot tall."

But that was neither here nor there, really. Will was here, though. Super ready for this. Yep.
“Hey,” he greeted Steve.

He'd had to compensate by going for a swim. In December. Steve Made Some Choices.

Yep, two workouts a day. Steven. Why.

"Oh, of course it is," he said instead, with a grin that felt just a tiny bit forced. "Naturally."

"SEAL habits," Steve said with a sheepish answering smile. "Danny assures me that it is not at all normal."

His hands had definitely shook when he’d first started handling the weapon, but he had that under control now, at least.

He'd never liked feeling helpless, and it was something he hadn't experienced for a long time, up until the last couple months when everything had started way too quickly out of his control.
no subject
Of course he was.

Because he was a jock with nerdy tendencies and, well, yeah. He wouldn't have noticed Will.

"Good thing we're no longer in high school, then," he replied. Cause you were more or less stuck with him as a friend now, Steve, sorry not sorry.
