The Perk - Wednesday Late Morning

It was Wednesday and even though Jo’s last classes were on Friday, she was busy with the library so she decided to try and keep up with the tradition of having a hot cocoa at the Perk.

She had missed the Perk while she had been away and it was nice to be back with classes even though she wasn’t sure about the PE class she had found herself signed up for but she would deal with that on Friday.

She only had one class today and so she headed to the Perk once she was finished and after spending some time catching up with the baristas over what she had got up to on the holidays, she took her usual seat by the window to people watch and drink her cocoa.

"Good morning, Jo." Jon smiled as he picked up his tea. "I trust your classes are going well so far."

"Good morning Mr. Sims," Jo smiled back, "so far they've been going well, I've had three so far," she told him, there was a brief hesitation, "even though I'm a bit worried about PE class on Friday I didn't realise I signed up for it, I've never been good with any kind of sports,"

Jon grimaced. "I can't say that was ever a strong point of mine, either. All I can say is good luck."

He was so good at pep talks.

"Erm...but I'm sure you'll do just fine."

“I hope so,” Jo said, rather awkwardly, “I hope the teachers aren’t strict like my old school, especially with swimming,” she admitted.

"I can't imagine they would be, around here," Jon said. "Do you...hm. Is...oh." Right. That would be why she didn't like swimming. "That would rather put me off it, too. I'm sure the teachers will be understanding. Or if not, you could probably get a note from home to get out of it."

That was a thing still, wasn't it? God, it had been ages since Jon had been in school.

“Well my dad tried to get me out of it before at …at Malory Towers I mean but it didn’t work,” Jo revealed, admittedly that was because her father had been quite loud and rude to the Head Mistress but Jo hadn’t known that, “I also don’t want to make a fuss and cause trouble,” she admitted.

"I'm sure the people here are used to all sorts of requests," Jon said. "I shouldn't think it'd be a problem."

“Oh,” Jo was a bit relieved about that prospect, “maybe I should ask about that on Friday,” and hopefully she wouldn’t end up bursting into tears or anything because she was rather intimidated about the idea of a being in a coed PE class.

"That sounds like a good idea," Jon agreed. "Dwight and Gladio have both been...pleasant?" Dwight had been a little pushy at first, but he had backed off. And Gladio had literally given Jon the shirt off his...well, bag, if not back.

“I have met both Mr. Hendrickson and Mr. Amicitia,” she nodded, “I had Mr. Amicitia for a substitute math class,” she went a bit red at the memory, especially when he had asked them to guess how tall he was, she had found him a bit intimidating.

"I met him on the bus on the way here," Jon said. "He's really very nice."
