Coping through Cuisine, Community Center, Monday evening
"Welcome, everybody." Hannibal smiled. "One of the simplest and most obvious ways of using food to help in coping is comfort food. Comfort food can be something different to each person; it tends to be things we associate with childhood or a feeling of safety. So today, I would like to hear what you consider a comfort food, and we'll be making them. I will help anybody that needs it."
He gestured at the table up front and his own dish. "A traditional French comfort food is gratin dauphinois, so we can start there."
He would not be sharing his own personal comfort food. He had made promises.

He decided to still make it since it was a comfort food to him and he enjoyed making enchiladas .

Hannibal nodded as he walked by.
Re: Class activity

She was a bit nervous about the idea of cooking and being around the oven though, so she was still a bit hesitant to start preparing to cook.

But, really, when she got right down to it, Astrid realized that her mind just kept going back to one thing, and, in a way, the fact that it was what it was almost sealed the deal for her, and she figured there was nothing else she could pick for this.
So she went searching for what she'd need, which wouldn't be much, but that was why she thought it would be a little more difficult to find. But find them she did, returning to set aside a box of saltine crackers while she twisted open a jar of peanut butter to get to work on spreading it over the plainest bread she could find before the grape jelly made its unsurprising and expected arrival to the party.

She had followed the recipe and had managed to not set the food on fire, so despite everything she was rather hopeful that it would taste as good as it had turned out.
