The Photo Hut - Tuesday

Liz felt cautiously optimistic for the first time since everything had happened with Travis and the Fire Station and getting arrested …the last few weeks had been a rollercoaster of emotions, she hadn’t been able to sleep at all and then she had fainted last Thursday and needed to be taken to the clinic.

That had been hard for her to deal with but now after she had managed to sleep for the last few days, especially the weekend when Prompto had stayed with her, he had been patient with her and stayed with her while she slept and that had helped a lot.

Then Prompto had stayed at her apartment for most of the weekend and he now was going to be moving in with her, at least while he was living in Fandom … she knew he couldn’t be around all the time but she still found it hard to believe that despite how she had been at her worst, Prompto was still willing to be with her … to stay and be with her.

Now she had to get a key for Prompto and that would make everything official, he would really be living with her and Rain. She had never had this before … everything was all new and different and she was looking forward to the changes that this would bring.

Today Liz was finalising the admin work she had been catching up on Saturday before Prompto’s visit, she was still feeling a bit tired but she knew that was going to take a while to fully recover from her lack of sleep from the past few weeks.

Kurt had been using his time between classes to do some more exploring around the island, camera in hand. He had gotten some good shots of some of the cool-looking storefronts and displays around town. Soon he had found himself over by the Photo Hut and decided to stop in.

"Hi," he said giving a shy wave and then Kurt smiled when he recognized Liz from his class.

Liz glanced up from her computer and smiled warmly at Kurt, “hi, you’re in Dr. Lecter’s class aren’t you? I’m Liz, is there anything I can help you with today?”

She didn’t even blink at Kurt’s appearance, she was friends with a 6’5 red demon and a psychic humanoid amphibian…this was actually normal for her.

"Aye, yes! I'm Kurt" he said, giving Liz a grin.

And though he wouldn't ever say so out loud, he was very grateful for the lack of stares. it was something he was very used to but it still bothered him so Liz already has some brownie points with the young teenager!

"I wanted to come by and check the place out a bit. Also, I was wondering... if I could get some help learning to use this" he said holding up the camera Prompto had given him. "I'm taking the photography class this term> And I... well... I've never used a camera like this before. I'm pretty sure the photos I've taken so far are not all that great."

"Oh you're one of Prompto's students?" Liz smiled as she walked round the counter to have a look at the camera, "the Canon EOS M50 Mark 11 model right?" she said with a nod, remembering that had been on the list of inventory that Prompto had been looking to borrow with classes.

"That's right" Kurt said with a nod as he held the camera out to her. "Our first assignment was to take some picture to share with the class next time. I...I've never used cameras all that much. It's... a little hard figuring out how to hold it and work the controls" he admitted holding up his hand with a somewhat shy grin. After all, it was a lot harder to do with only three oddly shaped fingers. "I know I can figure it out. It's just a bit of a challenge right now. Not sure I'm doing that good at it yet."

“Of course,” Liz smiled as she took the camera to have a look at it, “so these cameras are very handwavey detailed explanation because funnily enough I’m not an expert photographer :),” she was careful to not rush the explanation as she pointed out the different controls and settings that Kurt could use to take photos, she also did have a brief look back at the photos that he had taken, “you’ve actually taken quite a few good shots here, already” she complimented, she did notice him holding up his hand so she imagined how using the camera could be a bit of a challenge for him, “this is actually quite a good budget camera for beginners, which I think is why Prompto went with this for class,” she told him.

Kurt listened intently and nodded, making a few mental notes as Liz walked him through things. And he gave her a smile when she complemented his photos so far.

"Thanks, I appreciate the help and all. And... I hope it's not considered cheating with the class and all that I came in. Just figured, we have a photo shop on the island. So, might as well pop in and take advantage of it, rigth?" he added with a slight shrug and a grin.

“It's not a problem at all, I'm happy to help and I think Prompto would encourage visiting,” Liz told him with a smile, “the Photo Hut wasn’t used for a number of years so we’ve been working on getting it set up and running again these past few months and besides,” she added, “it shows that you’re using initiative for class right?” she said, “that you want to learn and using the resources the island has, so I really wouldn’t think that would be a problem,”

"That is true" Kurt agreed. "I appreciate the help! And if it's ok, can I come by now and then to show you what photos I've been able to take in class?"

“Of course you can, I’d like to see what different photos you're able to take,” Liz gave an encouraging smile, “if you also need any further assistance, I’d be happy to help where I can as well,” she didn't think Prompto would mind if she was also offering to help his students outside of class, at least she hoped he wouldn't.
