Luke's Diner, Saturday

[what_the_shock]

Today was definitely an extra coffee day. Probably even a Death Wish day. So Miguel started a pot of that before anything else.

"Caffeinate everything," he told the cook. The cook rolled his eyes, but didn't argue.

Double espresso waffles
Caffeinated oatmeal blast
Coffee-rubbed steak

Kurt walked into the diner and glanced around before taking a seat at the counter. He gave Miguel a somewhat shy nod as he grabbed a menu.

"Hey. Miguel wasn't it?" he was trying to remember everyone's names... but names were admittedly a little difficult for him usually. "How's it going>?"

"That's me." Miguel drank a bit more coffee before heading over. "Kurt, right? What can I get for you?"

Kurt nodded. "Can I get a double order of the waffle special?" he asked, knowing that was likely quite the large order. "And an orange juice."

Miguel put in the order and went to get the orange juice. "Mutant metabolism, or just teenager?"

"Little of both honestly?" Kurt said with a smirk. "But mostly the metabolism thing. It's even worse after porting around for a while."

"Makes sense," Miguel said, leaving Kurt his juice and going back to his coffee. "Use more energy, you need more fuel. Been teleporting a lot lately?"

"A bit" Kurt said with a shrug. "More than I had been recently. Found out the dorms have a gymnasium so been spending a good bit of time there. Easier to practice in more open areas." Because getting stuck in a wall was never a good way to end a day. "And it turns out you can have a decent game of basketball with just one guy, when that guy can teleport" he added with a smirk because honestly, that was a lot more fun than he had thought it would be... and it was also a good way to work up the appetite."

Miguel snorted. "Yeah, I bet. Too bad the other team's just as good."

"Aye, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a line of people waiting to play a few rounds so gotta make due with what I have" Kurt said with a shrug. "Though I of course wouldn't port if I was playing with others. That would be cheating. Unless... it was just Five and me going one on one" he said with am amused chuckle picturing how terribly that go!

"There's gotta be other kids with abilities too, right?" Miguel shrugged. "Get an all-powers version of ball going."

With other kids. Not Miguel. He was not a sports person.

"Will have to see... so far Five is the only I know with special powers. And strangely enough he can teleport too!" Kurt thought for a moment before shrugging. "It could be cool though to get a group like that together."

"Really?" Miguel hadn't been keeping much of an eye on the students, now he wasn't teaching. He shrugged. "I thought we had more. You could put up posters or something, I guess."

Kurt's order came up, and Miguel moved it from the pass-through to in front of him. "Need anything with those?"

"Will have to think about that" Kurt said with a nod as the food was put down. "It looks amazing" he said and turned to Miguel. "And just some butter and syrup will be fine, please" he added with a slight smile trying to remember his manners.

Miguel hunted up the butter and syrup and set them nearby. "Classes going okay so far?"

"Yeah they are all really good so far. A lot easier than I was expecting for having so many right off the bat" Kurt said as he dug into the delicious looking waffles. "Wasn't expecting some of the classes to be so small, so that helps some I think." Kurt paused for a moment to give Miguel a thumbs up on the waffles

Miguel turned to give that thumbs-up to the cook, even if he did smirk a little since it had been his idea.

"Yeah, it's a small school, and the classes get weird sometimes. As long as everyone survives, you're good."

"Not too worried about surviving any of them, thankfully... though" Kurt said as he pondered that long class list for a moment. "I have to say that mythbusting class has already been a bit... ummm... messy."

Mentos and coke make quite the mess and yes, it does take a long time to wash out of fur- Kitty should have known better honestly!

"Yeah? Anything fun?" Miguel asked.

"Oh just a literally explosion of coke and Mentos, several times over."

Kurt paused and shook his head with a smirk.

"I kinda wonder if Kitty was trying to get one over on me. If so, she succeeded. I had no idea that was what the reaction would be."

So yeah he had gone a bit overboard a little with his Mentos.

Miguel snorted. "Yeah, I've heard about that one. Coke everywhere. Not that it'd hit Kitty."

"Yeah, Kitty had a bit of an unfair advantage with that one," Kurt agreed. "Will be interesting to see what the next one is on Monday. Might have to consider porting to avoid another mess if it comes to it."

"What good are powers if you can't use them to get out of trouble?" Miguel asked.
