Blackstone Foundry and Forge; Tuesday [01/25].
Well, the only active project going on in the shop at the moment wasn't actually Amaya's project, which left her just maybe a mite twitchy with the whole 'not exactly knowing what to work on next' of it all. Being mindful of the calendar, though, she figured now would be about the time to start pushing for any Valentine's Day orders that anyone might want to put in, especially if they were looking for special orders, so she took to the sandwich board yet again to get that set up right outside:
It's almost February!
And you know what that means!
(No, not President's Day, but...)
~VALENTINE'S DAY~
The couple that stabs together, stays together!
Get your special someone a gift that proves as
strong and durable as your love!
With Blackstone Foundry and Forge custom weapons, armor,
and other fine metal goods!
Inquire inside!
Did Amaya wrinkle her nose and make a bunch of faces at the board in the process of writing all that? Absolutely. Might have felt a little nauseaus after it, too, while she was at it, but, oh, the sacrifices one made for their business....Satisfied enough with it (and making more faces at it when she read it over), she nodded resolutely, set it up inside, and then went back to her forge and her anvil, where she was going to be working on hammering up some nice damascas steel bars to be used for another project later.
The Forge is open!
[[ with probably, expected SP ]]

And after a couple of quick stops on the way over, he finally made it to the forge with a gift of coffee and some muffins in hand. The Perk and J,GoB were doing some good business that morning already.
Dwight eyed the sign as he walked in and set the food and drink down.
"Good idea starting on the holiday crowd already," he said with a not as he turned from the sign and gave Amaya an approving nod.

"Well," she reasoned, "any decent custom piece is going to take around two weeks, and sometimes that's pushing it, so if anyone wants anything specially made, they'd best get those orders in here soon."
She gave one more good stroke, before stopping a moment to nod in greeting. "Dwight," she said. "Ready to get started on some real work?"
no subject
"Ready and armed with fuel to get us going," he said shaking his head to clear his thoughts and then give a nod towards the food and drink. Because caffeine and sugar was a great way to start off the day right?
"I'll do my best to stay out of your way" he added with a smirk as he started looking through the neatly organized stacks of wood and supplies in the corner of the forge. "Just going to double check the first of these measurements and then get started."

She took a moment to consider her work this far, and the gifts that Dwight had come bearing.
"After a break," she decided. Because her day had already started with plenty of caffeine, sure, but who's to say there wasn't still room for more?

handwaveyselection of different muffins."Morning breaks are a great way to get started" Dwight agreed with a nod. "And just want to make sure my measurements for the first pieces are right before I start cutting things. After all, don't want to waste any of this good wood afterall."

She took a sip and then set to seeking out a muffin that looked like it had a decent amount of blueberries in it.
"Guess that's a fair point," she added, after gearing off a piece of the muffin and popping it into her mouth, but at least she had the manners to wipe the crumbs off the corner of her mouth with the back of her glove before continuing and she did so with a smirk. "It's not like with wood you can just heft it into the forge for a little bit and rework it if you mess up."
Was she trying to flex a little on the superior of their respected materials of choice? Maybe a bit.

"True, but wood also is much lighter and a bit more practical for some things. Like counters and display cases for example" he said with a smirk. Because, yes metal might be a little more forgiving in some aspects, but Dwight would argue that wood was much easier in terms of fineness and intricate design elements for the most part.

"I'd be tempted to have you go tell that to the people with marble countertops," she said, "but there's no need to go and get stonemasons involved in this, too. Then you know you're really off to a rocky start."
And no, she could not help herself, thank you.

He was a smart man. Smart enough to know when to just surrender and walk away. He knew how to pick his battles and this was one he didn't want to get tangled up in... he would be hard pressed to come out on top in the end anyways. It was Amaya after all.

Another bit of muffin popped into her mouth.
"Thanks for the breakfast, though," she added, lifting her cup in a salute before washing that bite down.

"And, gotta be sure her highness is pleased with today's offering for the accommodations" he said with a bit of a wink and a smirk.
no subject
"Pffft," she said. "Highness. Please! I can promise you, there's not a regal bone in this body. Know how you can tell? Because I can actually get things done!"
Do not get her started on the inefficiency of monarchy, Dwight. She was from Daventry. You had to fill out five forms just to enter the castle, half the time! She didn't even blink when it came to multidimensional taxes for running a business on this island, because it was still half as much work as a shop in that kingdom!

And while the intricacies of the specifics were a bit different, Dwight was quite familiar with the inefficiencies of government oversight. especially when it came to the military and international politics.
"Funny how the most incompetent people are the ones who usually end up in power, huh?"
