The Photo Hut - Thursday

After Liz had opened up the store for the day she was working on her end of the month financial report so that she could send it to Professor Broom to keep him updated on how the Photo Hut had been doing for the last month. Even though it wasn’t something that Professor Broom had requested, it was something that she liked to do to let him know how everything was going.

When her report was finished and she had sent it off, she was spending the rest of the morning working on replying to a few emails that she had before she was going to start working on inventory and see if there was stock she had to order.

Clearly, Liz had had a very busy and productive morning, which meant that by the time Prompto stauntered in, she was well overdue for a nice break.

"Thai food?" he offered, holding up the bag proudly with a grin. Or at least he hoped so. He always felt like he could, at any moment, pick something totally wrong and she'd hate it but it would be too late because he just went and assumed, but so far, he'd had a good track record! And even if she did hate it, maybe she'd be distracted enough when he strolled over to her to greet her with a kiss on the cheek to really mind too much.

"Also?" he added. "Hi."

Liz was more than happy to take a break, especially when it involved a visit from Prompto.

“Thai food sounds wonderful, thank you” she said with a warm smile, she didn’t need to be distracted but she still beamed happily at him as he kissed her cheek.

“Hi,” she said with a grin.

Prompto briefly wondered if such a simple word would ever stop causing him to grin as much as that simple response did, but it was honestly hard to imagine, and he just took a moment to appreciate it before moving over to set the food on the counter and start setting out the spread of various little things here and there because he wasn't entirely sure what Liz would have wanted, so he was clearly covering a lot</i of bases. "How's the week been?"

Liz looked at the different dishes that were being set out before looking back up at Prompto with a smile, "it's been pretty good, sent Hellboy en email with a lot of photos of Rain ... I couldn't decide on which photos to send so I sent all of the ones I've taken recently," there had been a lot. "Then it's mostly been writing financial reports, it's been a pretty quiet week mostly," she told him, "how about yours?"

Prompto chuckled a little over thinking that, yeah, he definitely didn't think Hellboy would complain about getting too many cat pictures, commandeering one of the containers of noodles as he grinned back with a shrug. "Pretty good," he said. "Took that fishing trip with Noct, but we'll have to try to figure out something else for Ignis's birthday now, unless he has better luck this weekend. Those fish were not biting." There was another snicker as he remembered. "He was getting super salty about it, too."

He, however, was going to be biting into these noodles now.

"Rain's quite the star lately, huh?" he added. "She definitely made an appearance or two in my portrait lecture today. Clearly the best of the examples."

“Oh that’s too bad about the fishing trip,” Liz said as she picked up one of the curry dishes, “maybe next time will be better?” She didn’t really know much about about fishing to know if that was how it worked or not.

“Clearly,” she said with a laugh and took a bite out of her curry.

“I mean I’m probably biased but I’m pretty sure all of Rain’s photos are amazing,” she said with a smile.

Prompto hoped next time would be better, or they might just be looking at a royal fit, fishing pole tossed into the lake and everything!

"It's true," Prompto confirmed, confidently, with a firm nod and a suddenly very serious face that would brook no argument. "I mean, just look at all the evidence to prove it! We just kind of lucked out, I'd say, winding up with one of the world's most photogenic cats."

World's most photogenic was definitely up for debate, but, between the two of them, there was a pretty good case that she was definitely the most photographed.

He chewed a bite thoughtfully before grinning and leaning in a little, lowering his voice in a sort of whisper.

"Don't tell her I said this," he added, "but I think maybe Leo might be giving her a run for her money, though."

Liz laughed, “she is definitely easy to take photos of, she loves it to,”

Did she? Liz wasn’t completely sure but Rain never seemed to complained about it at least.

Her smile widened af the mention of Leo, “your secret is safe with me,” she promised, “I mean I think all of Hellboy’s cats are pretty photogenic to be honest,” she added.

Liz did make a very good point there, and Prompto nodded along in agreement beforehis head tilted with a sudden spark of an idea.

"You know what we could do?" he ventured, with the kind of grin that suggested he knew it was probably kind of a dumb idea, but he was going to throw it out there anyway. "We could do a contest on, like, Instagram or something. Rate the cats, see who comes out on top, let the people decide. Could be good promotion for the shop or something, too, I don't know."

“That sounds like a great idea,” Liz told him with a smile, “it would also be a good way to use the Photo Huts social media accounts,” she said as she considered those options.

"And then," said Prompto eagerly, the idea only getting more traction now that it had approval, "we can end it all off with a party for the winner, and post all the photos of that. Cat contest and cat party? Instant gold!"

This was, after all, the guy who orchestrated puppy bowls and fashion shows almost every other week at Furnado back when he worked there, soooooo....totally on brand.

“I definitely love that idea,” Liz grinned, “I mean the cats will get extra attention as well right?” you know on top of all the attention they already got, she added, “so they get something out of it as well,” she smiled, “I really think this could work,”

The cats were clearly deprived of attention, so, yeah, it would be a welcome change of pace, for sure!

"We'll have to make sure Hellboy's on board with it, too," Prompto mused, "since, you know, they're mostly his cats and all, but, I don't know. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that he might actually be into it, too. I mean, I've only met the guy the one time, but I just have a sneaking suspicion..."

“I’m sure Hellboy wouldn’t mind but I’ll definitely make sure to ask before we start planning,” Liz said with a smile, “I should also run it by Professor Broom as well just to be safe since the cats do live at the BPRD and all,” she considered, “but since it’s in Fandom, I don’t think there’ll be an issue,” she considered.

"If they were posed in, like, cleverly disguised sets or something," Prompto pointed out, "then no one would even know where they really are, right? And that just adds to the adorableness."

"Oh that would be be a fun way to do that," Liz said with a smile as she started to think about how they could disguise some of the sets, "and I'm sure Hellboy would like to help with setting things up as well, it'd keep him out of trouble for a few minutes at least," maybe she should start with that when she asked Professor Broom about the idea.

"Well, I mean," Prompto said with a snicker, "out of trouble unless he decides to take a few of them in that one guy's room...what was his name again? Manning?"

Prompto would totally encourage Hellboy to do exactly that.

Liz laughed at that, "oh he absolutely would do that to Agent Manning," she grinned, "I can just imagine what his response would be to finding out his quarters were being used to stage cat photos for a competition,"

Hellboy would really need no persuasion at all but if he was being encouraged, well he wasn't one to back down from a challenge ... it was for a good cause after all.

Prompto grinned eagerly, taking a moment to preen proudly as he took another bite of his food, half-tempted to ask Liz to pass on Hellboy's number to him or something so he could get on that 'encouragement'. But he was just going to bask in this instead, and shook her head a little.

"This is gonna be great," he decided. "I can't wait to see what he comes up with."

A paaaause. Then a smirk.

"And totally crushing all his efforts when Rain reigns supreme!"

Well Hellboy didn't use phones but he did have email that Liz would happily pass on to him for said encouragement.

"I'm sure he'll find some rather creative poses with the cats as well," Liz smiled as she ate some of her curry, "I think he's been rather enjoying taking photos of them," even though she didn't know that part of it was so he could still keep in contact with Liz because even though he would never admit it to her, he did miss having her around all the time.

Liz laughed again at the pun, "oh I think she definitely has a very good chance, even with all the stiff competition she has to face," she nodded. "maybe we could even make it an annual thing?" she suggested, completely unaware of any future complications such a plan could bring.

"Or monthly," said Prompto, with another laugh, since a year was, like, soooooo long to wait in between adorable cat contests!

Especially since some years, apparently, could just unexpectedly turn into ten...

“Monthly definitely works,” Liz beamed at him, “maybe we could even make a cat calendar or something at the end of the year with all the different photos that we take of the cats, it could be something different to sell at the store as well?”

That was really ambitious of you Liz, making plans for the end of the year considering the year’s only just started.

"A cat calendar," said Prompto, blinking a little at Liz before just kind of marveling at her with a slowly broadening grin, "is an amazing idea! Ohmygod, that's...perfect!"

"You really think so?" Liz said hopefully, with a nervous smile she hadn't been sure at first but the idea seemed like a good way to use all those photos that they were more than likely going to have of the cats and she really didn't think Hellboy was going to mind, "I don't think they should be that hard to make, well maybe trying to decide what photos go for what months," she added.
