"Good evening," Hannibal greeted the class. "So, we have discussed and experienced many aspects of food as a comfort. But, it can be a comfort to feed others as well. One aspect of that is making food for somebody you care for. However, contrary to what corporations would have you believe, there are many different ways to do that, and different forms that comforting with food can take."

He projected his tablet onto a screen at the front of the class. "If someone is sick, chicken soup is common. If you're looking to make them feel better emotionally, some of the same principles as we discussed with nostalgic comfort food may apply; ice cream is common, at least in the summer. And apparently sangria for some," if Summer was any judge.

"Today we will not be cooking, only menu planning. Consider one or more people in your lives, and what foods you might want to make them to be a comfort. Research on your phones, or I have a few tablets here. Find things you can make, or learn how to make, and think about what makes a food appropriate. We can discuss as you go.

"Oh, and next week is Valentine's Day. If any of you have plans with loved ones, I expect you won't be here; the rest of us will meet at my house, where it will be my turn to demonstrate some of these principles."

Dwight spent a good bit of time thinking about and planning out the menu. After some time he had it finished and ready to get some feedback on.

"So for the special meal I would make, I would have several different things with the meal" he said as he handed over the paper with the meal plan:

Appetizer: Meatballs on Pretzel Sticks
Stuffed Olives on Toothpicks

Main Meal: Sweet and Sour Pork With Pineapple
Garlic Parmesan Shrimp Skewers
Steak and Chimichurri With Tomatoes
Fajita Chicken and Cheese Kebab

Desserts: Strawberry Short Cake Kebab With Whipped Cream

So... yeah.... probably a bit over adventurous. And also probably pretty obvious who his person of choice was for the meal planning. But Dwight didn't care... he was actually feeling pretty good about the menu he had come up with. Whether or not he could ever manage to pull it off successfully though... that was another question entirely.

Jo honestly had no idea how to even go about preparing a menu ... all she could think of was having a feast, except she knew that was going to be rather ambitious so she tried to think of other foods that she could prepare for someone else.

Liz Sherman

Liz considered what food she would make for Prompto as she tried to think of what foods that he liked, which a lot of it was based on the takeout that he had brought her over the last few months.

So after some research, she decided to base her menu around that and had decided that she would choose to make burgers for the main and then cake for desert.

Guillermo decided to base his menu on what he would make for his mum because that was who he did a lot of cooking for anyway and he knew what she liked in comfort food.

So he didn’t need to do much research in preparing for his menu but his menu did eventually consist of tomato soup, empanadas and churros.

Hannibal chuckled. "I'm noticing a rather wooden theme. Your chief challenge with this would be getting it all done concurrently. You would probably want to make some of it in advance, leaving only last-minute preparation the day that you want to present it."

Hannibal smiled. "Don't worry you need make it overcomplicated. One or two things, well chosen, can be every bit as wonderful as a large assortment."

"Classics," Hannibal observed. "Do you make different sorts of cakes, or do you have one that you favor?"

"Simple and filling," Hannibal observed. "Is this for anybody in particular?"

"Well I do like Chocolate Mint," Liz admitted, "but I haven't really had much practice making other cakes,"

"I would make this for my mum," Guillermo explained, "I help her with cooking at home and I know these are some of her favourite foods to eat,"
