The Magic Box, Monday

It was Valentine's Day. Not a day that normally had much meaning for Eliot beyond an excuse to get trashed on sparkling wine and throw themed parties, but then, he didn't usually get unexpected flowers for Valentine's Day either. Two, from his boss, which sat delicately arranged in a vase made from an empty bottle of drambuie on his nightstand at home.

He also didn't usually have a longstanding crush that he was unable to reach right now.

So the day had put him in a romantically melancholy mood. He'd picked out a nice piece of parchment paper and an attractive pen and was sprawled behind the check out counter, composing a love letter he would never send. Or trying to, anyway. He was kind of stuck trying to think around roses are red, violets are blue cliches and bad grade school valentines puns.

Finally, he gave up and went for a real letter, one he could spell to eventually find Quentin when he was in range. It had worked when they'd gotten split up in Fillory, so why not now?

Dear Q,
I've enchanted this to find you if you ever show up in Fandom again. Margo and I are still stuck. I gather from the locals that we will be until such time as Fandom itself decides to let go of us.

Then he sat there staring at those three sentences and tried to decide what he could actually say to the man that wouldn't accidentally reveal that he had what was quite possibly the world's biggest, stupidest crush.
