J, GOB- Sunday Afternoon
It had been nice to have a quiet week while the island was mostly empty, but it had started to get almost eerily quiet, so it was good to see everyone back. And Billy was doing his best to try and get some sort of schedule and routine going. It had always been a big part of how he functioned, and it had kinda fallen by the wayside since finding himself trapped on the island.
And figuring out a routine that could accommodate a less than desirable very, very broken sleep schedule was apparently going to be important. So, as he sat enjoying a coffee from The Perk and several delicious smelling pastries, Billy settled at one of the tables by the window, scribbling notes and random stuff on the notepad he had brought with him.
Among all the ramblings and barely connected trails of thoughts and notes there was written the word "THERAPY???????" and yes there that many question marks there too. Was he actually considering talking to someone about what all was going on? After his conversation with Will the other day, it was something that kept popping into his mind, though he was far from convinced that it would do any good.
And so with the note made, Billy pushed that thought out of his head and started scribbling down some more notes and ideas, taking plenty of time to stare idly out the window as he did so.

Only to do a little bit of a double-take when he walked in to see someone sitting there by the window and he frowned a little in confusion.
"Oh, hey, man," he started. "I thought you and Igs already left this morn...."
You could practically pinpoint the precise moment of realization, and Prompto blinked.
"...ing," he concluded, then immediately started in with, "Sorry, man. I...I thought you were someone else for a second there."
Really, it was uncanny, and definitely messing with his brain right now, and ohgod, don't tell him Gladio was some kind of Nif clone, foo, and of course Fandom would be all Fandom about it just</i[ getting back from a vacation!

Billy gave him a questioning look.... Being mistaken for someone was not something he was used to as he had a fairly unique look to him and he was still used to huge city life where even someone as memorable as himself could disappear and fade into the crowds rather easily. So, he was a bit puzzled at first and then the thought hit him.
"Let me guess" he said with a hint of smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "The other big guy around here with black hair and rather impressive looking tattoos?"

Prompto breathed out a sort of embarrassed laugh, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, but at least the guy seemed to have known where he was coming from. "Gladio," he confirmed, "yeah. At a first glance, you two....I mean," the snorted laugh was a bit more solid than the first, "I guess the fact that you're actually wearing a shirt should have clued me in."

"Yeah, I think I had him doing a double take himself the first time we crossed paths" Billy said with a chuckle, remembering that encounter at the coffee shop.
"I'm Billy" he said, remembering people usually introduced themselves during first meetings. "Somewhat reluctant but adapting resident of the island it seems" he added with a somewhat sarcastic laugh of his own.

He lifted a chin up at him, clearly a Gladio-inspired gesture thanks to being around a Gladio-adjacent person.
"So how long have you been around?"
no subject
"Nearly six months now, surprisingly. Spent the first few months trying to get off the island. Never made it very far so, here I am" he said with a slight shrug and a grin. "Got an apartment and a shop, so guess I am here for the long-haul."

He assumed. He still had yet to encounter one, but he was pretty sure tales of their intensity were not exaggerated, considering all the precautions taken again them.
"But the surf shop?" His brows lifted. "Have you met Sidon? Dude, I bet he'd go nuts for something like that!"
Don't even try to tell him that Sidon on a surfboard would be freaking amazing to see!
"And, hey, if you need holosuite help, I can probably offer some. I had a little trouble with the one at the school last semester, but I think that was a fluke. I've actually hacked into it a few times for classes, so I kind of know my way around that kind of thing....unless it's completely different, or something."

"But um... yeah the Surf Shop evidently has a holsouite in it. I've managed to get it up and running... somehow. All I have figured out how to access though is a sunset beach setting or something.. I honestly have no idea what I am doing" Billy admitted with a slight laugh as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Tech like this didn't exist in my time. Talk to anything close to virtual realty was purely science fiction. Hell, the bio engineering that caused the zombies was considered so far advanced it might as well as been science fiction... except for ya know, the fact we lived through it all first hand."
Billy paused for a moment then continued, pushing those all too familiar nightmarish thought from his mind. "Definitely wouldn't say no if you are offering to lend a hand with figuring that thing out though."

Prompto trailed off to somewhere else for a moment, then shook his head to bring him back. Realized what his hand was doing and quickly dropped it to his side.
"But, yeah, man," he continued, "I can totally stop by sometime this coming weekend to show you the ropes. I'd come earlier, but tomorrow's my day at the Photo Hut, and then I go home for a few days until Thursday, when I come back for my photography class, but...I guess there's also today, if you've got time. I just got back from vacay, though," he grinned, "I might be a little rusty."

Billy gave Prompto a glance and then a faint smirk. "So, you were part of the nearly island-wide group that took off for the week huh? I'd almost feel bad about about being left behind" he said with a teasing smirk.
Billy didn't like crowds. Well, crowds where everyone seemed to know him and crowds where w could just disappear and fade out of sight like he was used to doing for the last seven years or so.

Which he'd gotten to take advantage of this year, even! To...awesome results.
