The Perk; Sunday Afternoon [03/20].

Gladio was a big fan of routine (blame on being part of generational military family, he supposed), and, just like that, he felt he may have found himself in another one. Still, if you were going to talk about habits, there were definitely much worse ones than double-fisting a couple lattes and reading a book while waiting for a portal, especially since his previous coffee shop day had been taken up with terrain classes and shirtless drinking.

But this? This was pretty nice, too, especially considering that him being there to drink coffee and be a bookworm on Sunday meant that nothing too weird had been happening on the previous days of the weekend, either.

(Although, admittedly, sometimes that weird shit was kind of fun, too).

And while Gladio might be a fan of the routines and habits instilled with the military background, Billy on the other hand found himself in a seemingly constant struggle to set up new routines to distance himself from that aspect of his past.

"Morning." He had to give Gladio a smirk as he waited for his own monstrosity at the counter. "Couldn't choose a favorite?" he asked with a nod towards the two drinks.

Gladio glanced up from his book to meet Billy with a lift of his chin in greeting back and then, considering his two cups, just shrugged a shoulder with a grin right back. "Why choose if you don't have to?" he asked. "As long as they keep coming up with new ones for me to try, might as well try 'em."

Still holding out on that Cup Noodle^TM flavored latte, though, Perk!

"Very true.." Billy allowed with a grin as he dropped a tip in the jar on the counter and walked over towards Galdio. "And you always have the customized route to go too" he said holding up his cup. "I recommend the Double Mocha Mint with a double-shot of espresso" Billy said taking a sip of his own.

"Because there's not enough Double going around in the coffee shop already at the moment," Gladio noted with a snort, in regards not only to his cups on the table but to the undeniable mirror effect that a conversation between the two of them was sure to create. "I think between the two drinks already, adding even more espresso is just asking for trouble. I do like sleeping at night, y'know."

"Ah well, when it's two good looking chaps like us... never too much doubling down" Billy said with a laugh. And then he considered that last bit for a moment.

"Sleep and I have a less than... friendly relationship. So.." Billy lifted the cup and gave a bit of a shrug. "It is helps me avoid the nightmares for a bit, I'm all for it."

Ya know, never ind that eventually you DO have to sleep Billy and the nightmares will likely be right there waiting for you all the same.

Yeah, Gladio was pretty firmly of the opinion that running away from your problems did absolutely nothing but make them worse, so he quirked a scarred brow at that while taking a drink from one of his cups, almost as if to stop himself from just pointing that out.

So what he said instead, once he set the cup back down, was vague and noncommital, because he was also pretty firmly under the opinion that he had more than enough problems of his own to start diving too deep into other people's.

"Nightmares, huh? Sounds pretty rough, man."

"Yeah, seems to be a bit of a recurring theme" Billy said with a slight shrug. "Dealing with it best I can and so far so good for the most part so...." here he took another drink before finishing "can't really complain too much." And not that it would do much good even if he did.

Well, Gladio thought as he took another sip, at least he didn't think Billy would just suddenly start crying on him like the last person to just kind of traumadump on him at the Perk....

He could be wrong, though. Definitely would be interesting to see that, if he was.

And he thought he wasn't going to comment, but with an opening like that...

"Not really sure if overcaffeinating yourself is exactly 'the best you can,' but...what do I know? I'm not an expert."

"Well, beats dealing with nightly dreams and nightmares. If I am not going to be able to sleep, no point in being tired and exhausted between it all."

Billy gave a bit of a shrug and took another drink of said overcaffinating beverage.

"I'll sleep eventually when I have to, but might as well make the most of the extended wakefulness with a little energy boost."

Gladio looked....doubtful. But he added another shrug to the conversation and took another sip. "I mean, I guess if that's working out for you, man," he allowed. "Good luck to you. Everything else good, though?"
