Miguel rolled out of bed and came to work, making the coffee as usual. He was halfway through his second cup and had a marker poised over the specials board when the door banged open.

The last time this had happened, Miguel had actually almost enjoyed it; he'd done science with Gabriel and the whole kid part of it had been largely incidental.

The ten-year-old that barreled through the doorway said he wasn't going to be so lucky this time. "I want a chocolate shake. Hi, Dad."

Miguel groaned.

It had been a day. A good day for the most part if not a strange and exhausting one all the same.

"Kids eat free? Music to my ears!" Dwight said with a tired laugh a he sank into his usual seat, the one next to him also being occupied by a surprisingly still energetic tyke.

"Can I get a milkshake, Dad?" Kristoff asked excitedly.

"You can have whatever you want" Dwight said with a smirk at Miguel.

"Can I have a chocolate shake, a cheeseburger, and fries? Please." he asked as he gave Miguel his best 'grown up' voice and look. Which, was kinda cute actually for a nine-year old.

Miguel was immune to kid eyes. Probably because of the ten-year-old rolling his eyes at him.

"Seems only fair," he said to Dwight. He put in the kid's order and looked expectantly at Dwight.

"Ah right. Introductions, how silly of me" Dwight said with a shake of his head. "Forgive me."

"Miguel this is my son (and dang it that was still something that would take getting used to saying), Kristoff" he said putting a hand on the boy's head and giving his hair a playful tousle. "Son, this is my friend Miguel."
