Even though she hadn't made anything official quite yet, Astrid was pretty sure she was going to, after all, head out to New York after graduation. Even though she'd spent a good deal of her short life traveling to various different cities, New York in particularly felt like a betrayal to her origins. She could still see the sort of sneer on her mother's face regarding the city, a distaste she never quite understood, but perhaps that was just because she'd never actually been there. But now, she'd be calling it home, at least temporarily, and she'd managed to collect a few brochures for art schools in the area she'll be staying.

And with all the money she'd been saving up (and the fact that these were all back in the 90s and not college tuition today), she might even be able to afford a semester or two without even really having to start sweating too much.

Everything, then, seemed to be falling into place nicely.

She didn't trust it.
