Steve had showed up bright and early, gotten the Troopers started on their PT regimen (they were so excited, really. You could tell by the no expression on their helmets), worked through some case stuff and then headed off to paintball.

And now he was heading back, a smug, satisfied grin on his face. Coming in second wasn't bad when the woman who won first could have paint pass through her body, right?

The Trooper Station was open! And way too pleased with itself.

Danny stomped in after him, less thrilled than Steve. "You are such a cheater."

"I just adapted more quickly," Steve said with a grin. "I'm sure you'll get me next time."

"I'm going to dump a bucket of paint on you," Danny grumbled.

"Only during paintball class, though, right?"

[hatesparadise]

Danny made a face like he was considering it before walking away to get a donut. That wasn't an answer at all, was it?

"That is not the correct answer, Daniel," Steve called after him.

[hatesparadise]

"Pretty sure it is!" Danny called back.

"I'm going to tell Grace you're being a sore loser," Steve threatened.

"I'm gonna tell Grace that you sniped her poor, helpless father out of nowhere."

"That's the entire point of the class."

[hatesparadise]

"Yeah, but we could work together to take people out before you betray me," Danny suggested.

[grenadesandohana]

"Next time," Steve said with a grin. "This time they said everyone for themselves."

[hatesparadise]

"At least I don't need to scrub paint off anything," he muttered into his coffee.

"I would've helped with that," Steve said with a beaming smile.

Now he'd be aiming specifically at your ass, Danny.

"That is not cute," Danny said, pointing a finger at him.

It was kinda cute, but this sort of behavior didn't need encouragement.

"Says you," Steve said, still grinning.

[hatesparadise]

"Says me," Danny agreed. "And it'll take a lot more than offering to help me wash off to make up for the pain."

Like a massage.

Steve arched up an eyebrow. "Really. All that pain in a minute and a half."

It hadn't been that short a time, Steve.

"You really want me to make a comment about your performance in a minute and a half?" Danny asked with a little smirk.

Steve made a face at him. "You're hilarious."

[hatesparadise]

"Love you too," Danny replied.

[grenadesandohana]

"Loving you less and less," Steve teased back.

[hatesparadise]

"No you don't." Guys, not where the Troopers could hear you.

The Troopers were very good at ignoring them by now.

"No, I don't," Steve agreed.

It was only fun to listen in when these two weren't dating.

"For that, I'll buy lunch."

"Thai?" Steve asked hopefully.

[hatesparadise]

"You are so predictable," Danny teased.

[grenadesandohana]

"Never," Steve protested.

[hatesparadise]

"Tiny bit," Danny shot back with a grin.

[grenadesandohana]

"Thai is delicious and I refuse to be shamed for my choice," Steve said airily.

"I'm just saying... it's up there with garlic shrimp for you." Ohhh, thems fightin' words.

Steve grinned. "I will tell Kamekona to franchise here, just watch me. Maybe send Nahele."

"You will not." Nahele didn't need to be exposed to this crazy place, damn it.

"He'd love it here!"

Doubtful.

"Next you'll say Grace should go to school here," Danny replied dryly.

[grenadesandohana]

"I'm picturing the look on Rachel's face," Steve admitted, smirking.

"You don't even need to picture the look on my face," Danny informed him. Because his baby girl didn't need the insanity.

Steve beamed at him. "Nope, that's the look."

Danny flicked a paperclip at him for that. "You're such a putz. I rescind my offer of lunch."

Oh, now Steve was pouting. "Really?"

"We're getting sandwiches instead." But really good ones.

"But...Thai!"

[hatesparadise]

"We can do it for dinner!"

Steve sighed. "I guess."
