The Magpie Emporium, Thursday (5/12)
A couple of boxes of Free RPG Day materials had come in this morning; Steph was in the very slow process of putting them away, given that her arms were still sore from her unexpected workout during yesterday's completely bizarre relay race. Little Bot was trying to help, to his credit, and even if that help amounted to making sure Steph had a clear path from the front desk to the stockroom she appreciated it.
Saffron, unsurprisingly, was napping in a patch of sunlight as far away from Steph as possible, which wasn't a bad thing under the current circumstances.
It was probably telling how much she'd overexerted herself yesterday, considering that she was actually looking forward to being able to sit down for a while and not have to move much beyond writing down notes and making phone calls. Or maybe that just went to show how excited she was about Pride preparations and next week's workshop session?
Eh, it was definitely both.
There were a couple of new signs up in the front window today:

(Stop me if you've heard this one before).
...anyway, a future king and a giant gerbil walk into a gaming store, the former with a certain curious eagerness in his eyes and the former with a nose to the floor as if already rooting around for potential snacks. Graham had, slowly but surely, been stopping into some of the many shops around the island (there were so many! Sometimes, he almost didn't know where to begin!), but with a name like ~~Magpie Emporium~~!, this one was definitely toward the top of his list.
So there was a bright and eager grin on his face as he stepped in to look around and...his shoulders sunk a little. "Oh," he said, to no one in particular, "there's no birds here at all! Or magical pies!"
Unless they were in some of the boxes? But his eyes widened as they caught a load of some dice.
"Ooooh!"
No actual magpies to be seen, nor mag-pies, but there were, clearly, pretty shinies! And he gravitated toward them while his mind reeled with possibilities as to what they might be used for.
Had he noticed anyone else even in the shop, much less the person working there? It was hard to tell, but the odds were...probably not.

"Graham! Hey, dude. I am sorry to inform you that we're a little short on actual birds in here, but --" unknowingly emphasizing his narrative -- "we do have plenty of shiny things, both literally and figuratively."
She leaned against one of the shelves with a bright grin.
"Welcome to my store. What can I help you two with?"

"We," he informed her, importantly, with a puff of his chest and a squaring of his shoulders, "are getting the lay of the land! This is your store, though? That's amazing! What...uh..." His cheeks went a little pink as he rubbed the back of his head from having to ask, "is it, though?"

"This is, at least I hope it is, the most friendly local game store in the general area." Not that she'd researched most of the other game stores in the Baltimore area. "We sell all kinds of board games and roleplaying games here, and also have a chill kind of space for people to hang out and play."
She paused.
"We sell comics too, but I don't focus as much on that part."
