The Photo Hut - Thursday
Liz was still extremely tired and still hadn't been able to fall asleep, even though she did take some comfort in knowing that it wasn’t just her. She still felt really unsettled about the lack of sleep she was having since she knew how bad it could be for her.
She was trying to focus on finishing some general admin tasks before her class later that morning but she was finding it extremely difficult to concentrate and found that she was mostly just staring at the computer rather than actually doing any work.

Read this article, and call me after you do!!
You know it had to be important if he was emailing her about it and told her to call him instead of just texting, right? But, either way, the short and simple email included a link to an article from an Insomnia newspaper with a big headline that read "TREATY TALKS" and, slightly smaller below it, the subheadline: "Crown Prince of Lucis to Wed Oracle in Historic Negotiations for Peace!" The article itself went on to detail the announcement made earlier that day from King Regis himself that there is a treaty being considered between Lucis and Niflheim that would involve a ceasefire, an exchanging in holdings, an annexation of lands around the Crown City, and, as a show of their newfound alliance, a marriage between Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum, and Lady Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, former princess of Tenebrae and current Oracle of Eos. Negotiations between King Regis of Lucis and Emperor Aldercapt of Niflheim are expected to take place sometime in the weeks ahead.
And the email itself, of course, was simply closed out with:
Love you. Miss you! <3 Prompto

But when Prompto heard his phone ringing, he jumped on it, and, shirking anything as formal as a hello or anything like that, just eagerly, almost wildly, blurted into it, "o did you read it? Did you read the article?"

"I mean," he said, "yeah! It's amazing! I mean, all the details aren't really out yet, obviously, Igs pretty much said it's way more complicated than what they can tell the public, but they're talking about peace, Liz! Or at least a cease-fire! This is HUUUUUUUUGE! And more importantly: Noct's getting hitched!"
There was a small burst of a disbelieving laugh; he shook his head a little and chuckled. "I think he's still shellshocked, to be honest. But it's kind of hard to tell with him, he's sort of always like that."

It was a totally reasonable hour here, but maybe there was a weird time difference? He knew from other people that, sometimes, time didn't really cooperate very well between dimensions.
"Did I catch you at a bad time? I didn't wake you up or anything, did I?"
Prompto, she called you, so....

It definitely sounded like a thing the island would do, too.
So he frowned a little, thoughtfully, as he considered this, everything about the forthcoming treaty and Noctis' nuptials taking a firm backseat.
"Do you want to come stay here this weekend?" he offered. "If it's an island thing, maybe it'll help to just be...you know...not on the island?"
Especially if...well...these things sometimes tended to build into something, and so now he was worried about what kind of weekend they might be having there. Which made him wonder...
"I mean, or I could go there, too! I mean, with everything going on, I wasn't sure...I mean, there's a good chance they'll need me to...but they know I try to make it there on the weekends, anyway. And if something's going on, maybe me being here means I won't be affected by it or as affected by it as everyone else, just in case it...you know, becomes something way worse...."

Because, yeah, it was definitely Noct who was going to have massive spastic flails over all of this and not Prompto.
Noctis would be flailing, of course, but he was definitely going to keep all of that firmly locked up inside.
But then the fact that Liz had said since Monday started to really sink into his brain, through all the fog of all the news of the treaty, and that stab of worry grew sharper and twisted a little, remembering the last time she'd had trouble sleeping.
"I'll come pick you up tonight?" he offered, a new determination and certainty now in his voice. "Or tomorrow. But, yeah, no, you need sleep, Liz. And if being in Insomnia helps with that," HOW IRONIC!, "then that's what we'll do."
And if it doesn't...
....he wasn't going to think about that right now.
He then added, much softer, "And I never mind being with you. I love being with you. I miss being with you..."
So maybe all of this wasn't so much heroics and concern as just pure, simple selfishness.

She paused for a moment and then quietly added, “I miss being with you as well,” she told him, “I really miss you,” just in case her tiredness didn’t make that clear when she said it.

"Tonight, then," he promised. "I'll be by to pick you up tonight, as soon as I can manage to pry myself away from everything, okay? And of course Rain can come, too. It..."
He hesitated a moment on that thought, lip caught between his teeth with uncertainty, because, sure, yeah, okay, they'd talked about it, but that didn't mean that Prompto could let himself believe it when Liz said that her moving here was a possibility...
...but now, if even the war was finally getting setting, even that concern about dragging her from nice, relatively peaceful Earth to war-torn Eos wasn't even going to hold him back...
"It might be good," he finally managed to continue, "...for her to start getting used to the place....right?"

She still hadn’t changed her mind about moving with him, in fact these last few days had made her more determined to follow through with the move when it happened.

"Especially if it will be," he agreed, then just sort of sighed a little bit, a happier, contented sort of sigh, and just wanting to hold onto that moment for a while because he knew that it was probably pretty fleeting, but, man, was it nice.
"Okay," he then said. "I should let you get back to work. I should get back to work." A little bit of a laugh there. "But I'll see you later. Soon as I can get free, okay?"
