End of the Causeway, Wednesday Afternoon
"Oiy, Rex. That was a bit of a journey now wasn't it?" Connor said with a groan as he stood and stretched, wincing as his back popped loudly. "Never been one for flying much... but whooo.... that trip across the pond was something though. And that taxi ride from the airport… I think he intentionally took the bumpiest road he could. Me back is killing me!”
Connor gave a sigh as he looked around where the cabbie had dropped them off at the end of a causeway that seemed to lead out to a surprisingly small island. That was likely it. How many 'Fandom Islands' could there be right? Connor lifted the pet carrier and peered inside as a string of indignant sounding chirps and trills came from it. He grinned and gave a slight laugh as he set it down and popped open the door.
"I know... I know...Sorry mate. I didn't want to have ta lock ya up like that. But ya know how it is. I was lucky they didn't try to arrest me for bringing ya on the plane in the first place." He paused for a moment giving a slight nod as if making a mental note to himself... one he was most assuredly going to forget. "Will have to remember to send a thank you note to Cutter for writing up those papers and all for me. I'm sure that was what ultimately got us through all of that nonsense without more trouble than we had."
Connor stood back as the small Coelurosauravus crawled out of the carrier, giving him as indignant of a look that what was essentially a flying dragon could give
"Awww come on, Rex. Don't look at me like that, mate…" Connor pleaded. "We're here now. We made it. No more planes for a while now. No more carriers either, I promise."
Rex seemed to accept the apology as he gave a happy chirp and shook out his wings, the bright sun outside gleaming brightly off the green scales. With another happy trill, Rex jumped into the air and started flying circles around Connor's head. This place had a lot to see, and the view from up in the air was quite impressive to be sure.
Connor stood there watching Rex for a moment before giving a whistle. "Come on boy! We got to get settled in and everything still! Me head is killing me... feels like a Hesperornis has been pecking at it all day..." he rubbed the bridge of his nose for a moment before giving another whistle and holding his arm out for Rex. "Come on mate, I'm ready to go find this Museum we’ll be working at while we're here don't ya?"
A moment later, Rex swooped down and landed on Connor's outstretched arm, chirping happily, the remnants of a rather red dragon fly disappearing into his mouth as he did.
"Well looks like ya are already making yourself at home here" Connor said with a laugh as he moved Rex to his shoulder, grabbed his bag and started across the causeway that led to the island he had recently heard so much about. "Try not to eat too much of the wildlife before I get a chance to check things out alright, mate? I'll get all the food ya want once we get settled. Can't have ya eating me research projects after all!"
And if anyone had been around the causeway at that moment, they would be greeted by a rather odd sight, even by Fandom standards, as the newest resident of the island made his way, an overly friendly green dragon perched on his shoulder, chirping happily.
(Newbie has officially arrived! Post so very open!)
