Buck was spending his shift running drills, namely the ones that helped with upper body strength. Because, apparently, he had something to prove this weekend. He'd be running drills a couple times a week anyway, but today he was focusing more on the ones that helped with upper body strength.

Mostly he was dragging a dummy around.

"Can you believe this?" Eddie asked, showing him the 'corrected' flyers from the Trooper Station.

Buck dropped the dummy with less care than he would an actual person (hopefully), so he could take a better look at the flyer. "That's actually pretty funny."

"It's a little competitive." Which clearly they weren't. Ignore how Eddie was also there to work out.

"Isn't that the point?" Buck asked. "Unless this was supposed to be a hug-fest and nobody told me."

Even if it was a hug-fest, he'd still be working out his upper body. To give those good, good hugs.

Hugs took work, it was true.

Eddie wobbled his heada little, considering it. "I mean, it's not really competition when they'll be the ones losing, is it?"

"I hope you haven't been goading the local law enforcement," Buck said. "Even though they are so gonna lose."

"I've only talked to one of them, so it isn't me." Yes, but he talked to the most competitive one.

"Which one?" Buck asked. "Short with big hair or tall and tattooed?"

Oddly enough, he hadn't met Diego.

"Tall and tattooed," Eddie confirmed. "The Navy guy."

"You taunted the Navy guy?" Buck asked. Eddie had said nothing of the sort, but he was going to assume.

"It just the normal stuff," Eddie said. "Army, Navy. It's kind of what you do."

Now if he'd heard SEALS, he wouldn't have done it. Because those guys were all nuts.

"Yeah but you guys are all super competitive." Not Buck. No, sir. He was working out in 90 degree weather for funsies. "He's probably, like, got those helmet dudes working out in the place Drago did in Rocky IV."

"It's just a thing you do, it's not real competition."

Again, he was at the station on Buck's day to also work out.

"And the helmet guys can't compete. It's an unfair numbers advantage."

...unless they lured some of them to the Fire Department.

Eventually, the deliveries slowed down at the clinic that Will felt he could step out for a few minutes.

"Keeping busy, I see?" he asked, amused.

"Gotta get ready for this weekend," Buck said. "I'm only dying a little bit."

It was so hot.

"Just don't overdo it," Will cautioned. "Can't win if you're dead, after all."

"Are you coming?" Buck asked. "Or do you have to go in a work capacity in case a fight breaks out?"

“Little of column A, little of column B?” Will said with a grin, making a back-and-forth hand motion with the hand that was not currently carrying something that looked suspiciously like a folded-up Hawaiian shirt. “Though I’m a little torn on who I should cheer for,” he admitted.

"Firefighters, obviously." Duh, Will. He looked down at Will's hand, specifically what was in it. "You throwing a luau or something?"

“What? Oh! No, I, uh. Might have asked Anakin if he had any extras left over of that beach chicken shirt from last week?” he said. “Since you missed out.” He held the aforementioned shirt out towards Buck.

"Really?" Buck grinned. "Oh, man, you are awesome! My collection is growing!"

“Pretty sure Anakin now thinks I really like these shirts,” Will admitted. Buck’s reaction had made it totally worth it though.

"So he thinks you have awesome taste?" Sure, Buck. Sure.

“Something like that, yeah,” Will laughed.

"Seriously, man, thank you," Buck said. "Eddie's kid gets a real kick out of these shirts, so I have to keep impressing him."
