The kitchen staff were all gathered around a disposable cooler that Greg had brought in, ooing and ahing over the contents. Duke came over with a frown and peered in.

"No," he said.

"But --" said Greg.

"No," said Duke again.

"I saw on YouTube --"

"Absolutely not!" Duke grabbed the cooler from his hands and went to stick in it in his office. "You are not serving fugu based on seeing it on YouTube."

"You never let us have any fun."

"Goddamn right I don't."

"Sea urchins?" Lucifer commented on his way in. "Someone's feeling ambitious."

"It was a compromise," Duke said. "Greg here wanted to bring out the pufferfish."

"Has he even trained for that?" Lucifer asked, frowning.

"He watched," Duke said dryly, "a YouTube video."

So no. No he had not.

Lucifer tilted his head. "Well. That would be both entertaining and horrifically deadly."

“And the latter is definitely not what people want in their diners,” Duke agreed. “But anyway. How you doing, babe?”

"Quite well, just got off the phone with some suppliers in Baltimore. We may finally get this project on the road," Lucifer said. His mouth curved. "And then I felt myself inexplicably drawn to lunch."

“The siren song of sea urchin,” Duke teased. “You ready to set a new date yet?”

"Somewhere in July," Lucifer said, with conviction. "Nothing dramatic seems likely to occur in the middle of the summer semester..."

"Until you say that," Duke said with a snort. "But yeah. July's probably a good plan."

"My Father has vacated this plane," Lucifer said. "I refuse to believe fate would continue to be so predictable."

“Fate, no,” Duke agreed. “Fandom on the other hand. . . .” He leaned in to drop a kiss on Lucifer’s cheek. “I’m teasing. We should have at least until August.”

"I would just like to avoid traumatizing events for at least another month," Lucifer sighed, leaning slightly towards him.

"Sounds reasonable to me," Duke said. "We'll just have to lay low. Other than opening your club, of course."

"Minimize the amount of trips to the mainland," Lucifer agreed.

Octavia turned up around lunch time again, and would be grateful about the lack of being poisoned (again), yes.

"Ha yun, jaka."

Duke was generally anti-poisoning people. At least without really good reason.

"Ha yun, gona!" he said, offering her a bright grin. "How's your day going?"

"Well, I did yoga again," Octavia offered with a small smile that wasn't really much next to his grin. (But it was genuine.) "Maybe next week we can actually get started on making that a whole thing."

“Yes!” Duke said. “Ugh, where is my brain these days? You may have to remind me.”

"I'm sure none of our brains have been doing great," Octavia replied, a little more wry. "We'll get to it, I promise."

“Mochof.” Duke leaned down to give her a kiss. “You’re too good to me, gona.”

Tiny, soft snort.

"Because of yoga?"

[betterthanaplan]

“Among many other reasons,” Duke agreed.

Octavia made another soft, amused noise, but didn't argue. Just stole another quick kiss.

"You're too good to me too, jaka."

That wasn't arguing!

“Fair enough,” Duke said with a soft chuckle. “Now . . . want some sea urchin?”

[okteiviakom]

"... I don't know," Octavia admitted, after a little pause. "Those don't feel like they should be for eating."

[betterthanaplan]

"Most of them are not," Duke agreed. "But there are bits of some of them that are actually quite tasty."

"I don't doubt that," Octavia told him. "Just something about it doesn't... seem right."
