The Photo Hut - Tuesday

It was Liz’s first day back at the Photo Hut since she had left and a lot had happened since then. She was thinking that it might be a good thing to reduce the amount of hours she did so she could focus on her pregnancy and making sure she was both physically and mentally healthy, she figured she could manage a couple of hours here and there in between her classes for the day and see how she managed being back at work.

For her first shift back she decided to start work on catching up on some paperwork and working on her end of month financial report for June, since she had been gone for two weeks, she still had quite a bit of work to do.

It had been a few days so hopefully that wasn't crowding Liz too much, right? Not that she'd asked but Steven still worried about making sure things were all right between them.

All the same, there were things to catch up on. So Steven came in to the store and called out, "Hello, Liz. Not bothering you, am I?"

Liz smiled as she looked up from her computer where she had been working on her report. She wasn’t sure if Steven would still want to stop by the store after everything so she was happy to still see him as she did still want to be friends.

“Steven hi, you’re not bothering me at all,” she assured him.

"I heard you managed to get through to Prompto," Steven said. "That's good news, isn't it?"

Hopefully it was good news. It wasn't until Steven said it out loud that he realized bad news was an option, like Prompto not being able to come back soon or the like.

“I did,” Liz nodded with a small smile, showing Steven the communicator she was still wearing on her wrist, “I - I wasn’t able to talk to him very long though,” she paused, “I - I didn’t have a chance to tell him that I was pregnant,”

"Oh no!" Steven said. "I mean you know he's alive so that's good though, right? Much better than being uncertain?"

“It is good to know that he’s still okay, I mean considering the circumstances and all, it was nice to be able to talk to him again,” Liz said softly, “I - I don’t know how soon he’ll be able to get back, he did say he would try and get back to me though, at least i know there’s a chance I can still talk to him again,”

"Get back on the communicator?" Steven asked. "Or back in person?"

“Get back in person, but I don’t know how long that will take,” Liz clarified, “the connection wasn’t that strong last time so I don’t how often we can talk, it might only be a few minutes at a time, if we can manage it,”

"I can see why you weren't able to tell him everything then," Steven said. "Not the sort of announcement you want to rush. Is he doing all right though? Considering?"

Stark's advice the day before was really coming in handy here.

Well Liz had confessed about everything with Steven but she didn’t want to upset him anymore than she had already so she decided to not bring that up, “I think he’s doing okay, at least from what I could tell, it’s - I think a lot has been happening for him, we didn’t really get to talk about anything like that,” she said softly.

"Is he in any danger?" Steven asked. He knew the odds were high that the answer was yes but he wanted to leave open the possibility it might not be that bad.

“I - I’m not sure, I know his world can get pretty dangerous, I….” Liz hesitated, “I don’t know if it’s gotten even worse since the attack,” she admitted.

"Well then you don't know that it hasn't either, right?" Steven pointed out. "If he's taking about coming home to you maybe things are on the mend?"

“That’s true,” Liz said softly as she considered, “he might be able to find a way back quickly, it would be nice to be able to tell him the news that he’s going to be a father in person,”

"Keep a good thought then, yeah?" Steven said. "I imagine he'll be chuffed to bits when he hears."

“I’m pretty sure he will be,” Liz said softly, “we did talk about starting a family, I just thought Prompto would be here to be part of this journey as well,”

"I know it's hard, it not starting the way you imagined," Steven said. "But it'll be all right, yeah? You're not alone. You've friends now and when he gets here you'll have him as well."

Steven wasn't going to allow for the possibility that Prompto wouldn't come back, or that if he did he'd leave Liz alone with their child.

“I - I just have to be patient, that I’ll see him again,” Liz nodded, “I …I think I will be, all right I mean, I think - it took a bit for the shock to wear off but it means a lot to know that I won’t be alone, that I have support here,”

"And are you?" Steven asked. "Doing all right? Marc told me about you moving in with your doctor. Is that... normal?"

Liz hesitated, “I’ve been doing better than I have been, I’m …Dr. Lecter’s changing my medication and it could be a while before it settles down …it could be a while before he finds the right one,” she said softly, “he wants to monitor me and make sure I can look after myself,” she explained.

"I see," Steven said. "As long as you're all right. Or as all right as you can be given current circumstances."

She was his friend. He did still worry after all.

Liz nodded, “I’m all right now, or at least at the moment . It’s …it’s more of a precaution and I think staying with Dr. Lecter will be better than moving into hospital,” she admitted.

"And at least this way you stay on the island, yeah?" Steven said. "You've got all your friends nearby if you need them. Speaking of, is there? Anything you need, I mean?"

"I would much prefer to stay here on the island," Liz said with a small smile, "I do like being here," she added, pausing for a moment, "but I don't need anything right now but I will remember that if I do, I mean if I do need my friends ... I think I have most of my things at Dr. Lecter's, so there shouldn't be anything I need for the time being but he's been really supportive about everything," she said quietly.

"Well if you do need help moving things there is always Marc," Steven pointed out. Then, because it was Marc, he added, "Perhaps when your doctor isn't around."

"I'll definitely remember that but I will make sure when Dr. Lecter isn't around," Liz promised, remembering that Marc didn't seem to like psychiatrists that much but then based on what she had been told about the experience in the underworld she didn't really blame him, "I don't really need anything moved at the moment, it only took one trip to move everything over but maybe when I start to get the nursery prepared, I will probably need help with getting things set up," she admitted.

"He's good with that," Steven said. "Putting together furniture and the like. It's how we did it when we moved in. He took care of the heavy bits and I did most of the unpacking. Course it didn't hurt hardly anything was his. We're still working on that."

"Oh, does Marc not own a lot of things?" Liz asked, she remembered him mentioning that the extra bedroom was good for storing his weapons but she had figured that he might have had other items as well, "I mean, I can't really talk, I don't own a lot myself - mostly my cameras and photos, I'm pretty sure Rain owns more things than I do,"

"Hardly anything," Steven said with a sigh. "Clothes and some things he's put in the spare room but otherwise he's still being a stubborn prat about doing anything to make the place his own. Keeps saying he's no need to, which is rubbish. It's his home as well, isn't it?"

Liz nodded, "does Marc have any hobbies or interests, maybe he could buy something related to that, something small?" she suggested, she was going to suggest that he maybe look into starting a creative project but Marc didn't really seem like he would be interested in arts & crafts, so she decided to not suggest that.

"That's just it, isn't it?" Steven said. "He's got the interests. He just refuses to do anything with them. Says he doesn't need to. He's still got it in his head that I'm the only one of us who should have a life."
