The Perk, Monday Afternoon
Well.
It only took two and a half months, but Watts had finally been convinced to try one of these “iced” coffees.
Convinced was perhaps a strong word. Forced, more like, though he supposed he could have taken his business elsewhere- there were other places on the island that he’d found served coffee, even if they didn’t specialize in it.
The point was, the barista had just told him in no uncertain terms that he really did not want a hot coffee today, and here, have an iced mocha. On the house.
It was hard to argue with the price of free, so he took the drink and sat down at a table.
“… That’s not bad,” he had to admit, after taking a cautious sip.

"Afternoon, Detective Watts," she greeted him with a bright smile, once she'd placed her order (some sort of gloriously-refreshing-looking pink confection with lots of ice.)

"And you," she replied, lightly fanning herself as she leaned against the counter to wait for her drink. "Even if I'm considering booking myself on some sort of Arctic holiday until September."
Drama queen.

More often than not, clients had come to her, of course. Much more discreet for them.

She was still wrapping her mind around them a bit, herself.

"Thank the heavens for coffee..." he said as he took the first drink and turned from the counter. He stopped and gave Watts a slight nod. "Good afternoon mate," he said with a lift of his drink in greeting.

"Oh, I'm Connor by the way" he said as he held a hand out.

He glanced at Connor’s outstretched hand just a moment too long than was probably polite before taking it. “Detective Llewellyn Watts.”
Bit of an emphasis on the surname there, yes. The given name was reserved for one person only at this point.

“The very best,” he agreed. “Did he?” he certainly had been helping Watts himself with the whole acclimation process, but Connor looked more or less like he fit in here.

“A year?” Watts echoed. “That sounds-“ and while most people might use terms like ‘scary’ or ‘difficult’ or ‘inconvenient’ (the Cretaceous certainly lacked a lot of things, including iced coffee), Watts went with “-absolutely fascinating.”

"Oh it was fascinating, especially from my archeological scientific perspective" Connor allowed with a smirk. "Up until a Spinosaurus showed up and wrecked our shelter. Don't ever want to get that close to 4 inch long teeth again though" he said with a slow head shake. "One time is more than enough!"
He considered Watts for a moment before adding "Bet you got some stories to tell yourself huh, being a detective and all?"

If Connor was asking him to share any of those stories he might need to be a little more direct.

"Seems like just about everyone around here has their share of interesting stories," Connor said with a slight nod. "Even us normal people without superpowers and such (hey he had at least heard about Tony and a few of the others even if he had not met them yet) seem to have some tales to tell of back home. Though I'm pretty sure even my own family would have trouble believing what all has happed to their "little" Connor Temple since I left" he said with a laugh at the air quotes he put around that descriptor.

“Ahh. Baby of the family, I presume?”
no subject
totally head canon family because OMG canon gives us nothingdecent sized family" Connor replied.
