There was nothing quite like almost winning at Paintball if it weren't for someone like Anakin Skywalker to motivate a person to really feel like they needed to up their rollerblade assassin skills. After all, one never knew when being the best at rollerblading and shooting things might be a life-or-death situation, so, clearly, Rosa needed to invest in some good skates and get right on that. She was pretty sure she could count it as a work expense, too, for tax purposes.

And as she was deep into her research online (good thing she didn't have any real pressing jobs at the moment), another idea occurred to her, and she squinted a little at the screen before she reached for her phone to shoot off a text to a certain blacksmith to see if she had any thoughts on her ability to add actual blades to rollerblades...

Which mostly lead to Blackstone then asking what rollerblades were and being mildly disappointed when Rosa explained and they weren't at all what she was thinking, but she did seem to like the way Rosa was thinking and was seeing what she could do.

Surely, this wouldn't end poorly at all!

Miguel made his way down after class. If he smelled a little like chemical smoke, it was all Beaker's fault. But he was still bringing coffee and a reuben and plopping himself down in his usual chair.

Rosa glanced over from her very important 'research' on her computer, looked Miguel over for a moment, and then went to reach for the food.

"Do I want to know the details?" she asked.

Because of course she knew where he was coming from, so she could pretty much guess the general why for smelling like he did, but she also suspected that was only a fraction of the full picture.

We played "burn or melt", Miguel said, grinning.

Played felt like an interesting choice of words, really.

"And which one," asked Rosa, with a quirk of a brow, "were you?"

"Pardon you, I neither burn nor melt," Miguel declared haughtily. "I melted a few really ugly sweaters, though. What have you done for science today?"

Rosa, after a moment to look smug because she figured he would have responded with something like that, took a moment to glance at her computer screen and then looked back as she asked, "Does commissioning Blackstone to outfit a pair of rollerblades with switchblades for me count?"

Rosa liked to think that that totally should count.

"A what?" You were getting such a (dumbfounded) look for that, Rosa.

"A switchblade," Rosa answered, unfazed, unbothered, although a little dumbfounded herself on why he would even have to ask. "You know, a little hidden knife, like in a boot. Only on rollerblades instead.

"I know she can do it," she added, as if the ability was the issue here. "She's got some on her Squirrel Crumbler. Same thing, just a little smaller."

"So...just a pocket for a knife on the side of the boot?" Miguel asked, to clarify.

"Probably the toe," Rosa mused. "A little easier to maneuvers. With some kind of trigger button inside to flip it out when needed."

"You know you could just get ice skates instead," Miguel pointed out.

"Because ice skates work great on concrete," Rosa countered.

"They will once they're lubricated with blood from that blade," Miguel said, deadpan.

"I'm pretty sure that's not how that works," Rosa noted, "but I'm also pretty sure you don't actually want me testing that out. I'm sticking with the rollerblades. At least until winter."
