There hadn't been a huge invasion of wet portals. Which was great! So great. Buck hadn't been hoping for a minor disaster or anything, that'd be ridiculous.

He was pouting at the front desk for a different reason entirely. Yep.

Around lunchtime, Will came by with- well, not an emergency, unfortunately, but a couple of shirts. As well as some iced coffees. And cheeseburgers, of course, because when life gave you an abundance of those, why not share?

"Hey," he greeted. "I come bearing gifts."

"Hey, thanks!" Buck was always happy for more ugly t-shirts to wear in public. "Is the coffee place selling cheeseburgers now?"

Weird, but Buck loved cheeseburgers so he wasn't gonna complain. Though they should consider a name change in that case. Like Beef N' Beans.

Wait, no. That sounded like a gay leather bar.

"These are from the clinic actually," Will said. "They've been appearing on plates all morning. The nurses have been eating them," that judgey face was more for eating a cheeseburger at like 8am than eating a cheeseburger that appeared when your back was turned, "so I figure they're safe." But if Buck wanted to decline based on that, totally understandable. "Coffee's definitely from the coffee place, though."

Uh, this was the dude who had been eating Jeff's mystery treats for weeks now so, no, he was not afraid of magical cheeseburgers.

"You'd think a clinic would be providing healthier food," Buck said. "But I guess clogged arteries would bring in patients..."

Well, he’d declined the crab legs from a few weeks ago, so clearly he had some standards!

“None so far,” Will lamented. “although this is the first time the cheeseburgers have shown up since I’ve been there. So I guess I’ll wait and see.”

Though as much as he’d like for some excitement again, he didn’t actually want anyone to end up with clogged arteries.

"Well I'll never say no to free food," Buck said. "Or free shirts. I'm mostly here for free anything."

You know, Buck. Will had noticed that about you. Hence the stopping by and no other ulterior motive.

“I mean, I was already planning on stopping by with the shirts, the cheeseburgers were pretty serendipitous though.”

"If the firehouse ever gets free food, you're gonna be at the top of my list for delivery," Buck said. "...after we make sure it isn't drugged. That's happened before."

“That sounds like it’s got a story behind it,” Will said.

"Uh, yeah, well one time we saved this lady who thought we could use some relaxation?" Buck said. "And she sent us brownies that were laced with LSD."

“While you were on shift?” As a medical professional, Will knew he probably shouldn’t be laughing as that was dangerous, but given how casually Buck spoke about it, it clearly hadn’t ended that badly. “Oh no.”

"Yeah, me and Eddie definitely had some," Buck said, laughing. "And we had to go to a call at a kid's beauty pageant."

One of the adults had gotten a stiletto to the face. Normal things.

"It went as well as you would expect."

“Everyone survived, though?” he checked.

"Nothing else happened?" And Eddie missed it was the unsaid part. Because he'd be so sad if he missed it.

"Not a damn thing," Buck said, sighing. "Freaking lame."

"Maybe we need to go out and... patrol?" Oh yeah, take long walks on the beach again. Just what the island needed. "I can't believe I even said that."

"Okay, but it's also like a thousand degrees out," Buck said. "And we'd be out there with equipment on now."

"Does this place have a pool? Maybe we're needed there." Eddie, no.

"I thought you said we weren't lifeguards," Buck joked.

"At this point, I might take it." He was so bored, Buck.

And so did Buck. So they were both stupid.

"You just want to do slow motion Baywatch running."

Look. Eddie wasn't known for making the best decisions.

"Is that on the table here?" Eddie asked with a laugh. "Because I'm going to say now that I'm lacking in some attributes for it."

"Uh, David Hasselhoff also did the slow motion running." And you looked way better than the Hoff shirtless, Eddie!

That wasn't weird, it was just a fact.

Hey, hey. Both of them looked better than David Hasselhoff. Also a fact.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Eddie said oh so sincerely. "I just didn't want to break your heart if you expected some Pamela Anderson."

"I mean, I wouldn't complain if you decided to make an ass out of yourself with a wig and some overfilled water balloons." It'd be hilarious.
