Rosa had to read the email sitting in her inbox several times, just to make sure she was reading it right.
Someone wanted to hire her for a case. Great. And it wasn't a missing person or 'catch my partner cheating on me' gig, either. It was a missing object case, though, and it seemed as though a taxidermy hobbyist had a break-in, and several of their best pieces were stolen, but, most importantly, there was one particular piece, of a beaver (of course, what else would it have been?) that had been stuffed with priceless family heirloom gems and coins, and so this taxidermist wanted to know if she would be willing to take on the job of finding said stuffed beaver.
And you know what? Rosa figured it was stupid enough and gross enough to give it a try. Why not? As long as she wasn't being paid (and she made this abundantly clear in her email back) that she wasn't being paid in taxidermy.
As soon as she sent it, though, she had regrets, and considered a follow-up email to ask if, actually, they did any work with spiders....
