BB-8 had gotten into some kind of argument, or maybe a dispute, or something, with the gremlin, and now they were spending Rey's shift beeping/grumbling at each other. Occasionally they attempted something that seemed a little like trying to bump someone's shoulder as you passed someone.
Rey was both trying to keep the peace while getting work done, but she also kind of couldn't wait till the end of the shift to ask BB-8 what the hell happened.
