Magpie Emporium; Friday [08/26].

Knowing that it was a break week anyway, and that both Kurt and Libby were away for it and he wasn't quite sure when they'd be back, Graham made an executive decision to to also take a break from the game that week. He didn't want either of them (or anyone who'd had plans he didn't know about!) to miss it, especially since they'd cut off in the heat of their first epic battle! But he also let everyone else know that if they still wanted to swing by that evening and still play one of the many other games the Emppoorrrr~rium had to offer, he would certainly not say no! Or even if they wanted to just come by and hang out with him and Saffron and Little Bot, too!

For now, mostly, he was looking into maybe convincing Saffron to check out one of those other said games with him, and he'd chosen something that he thought sounded really cool, but, hooo, boy, was he starting to have regrets.

So Guillermo knew that there wasn’t any DnD session tonight and yes they’d made plenty of empanadas over the weekend but it felt wrong to not still turn up with some freshly made empanadas on a Friday and also it didn’t hurt to being able to visit Graham again.

Also maybe he could look into buying some new dice because the ones he had seemed to not be lucky.

“Hi,” he smiled, still feeling rather shy and awkward but he held out his containers anyway, “I made some fresh empanadas,”

"Oh! Guillermo! You didn't have to do that!"

Was what Graham said, but it was pretty clear, by the look on his face and the brightness in his eyes, that he was very glad that Guillermo had, and that it was an incredible comfort that missing out on a game tonight didn't also mean missing out on delicious empanadas!

Guillermo smiled brightly, “I thought since we weren’t having the session tonight, that I would still bring over some, I did think about trying to make a pie this week but I thought I’d save that for next week for something different,” he added, “especially since we had pie on Tuesday and everything,”

Not that that would really matter since there was no such thing as too much pie but Guillermo decided to keep it simple with the empanadas this week.

"We did have pie on Tuesday!" Graham confirmed, as if it was even in question, as if anyone could ever forget such an excellent multitude of pie and good company, and his face went a little dreamy and fond of such good pies that had clearly served them well. "And a Friday without empanadas would be a pretty sad Friday, indeed.

"But how've you been, Guillermo?" he then asked happily. "I'm glad you still stopped in, even if there's no game tonight. I guess we could have still had it, but I'd feel bad if Kurt and Libby missed anything really good, you know?"

“Not to bad, I’ve mostly been hanging out in the dorm room last couple of days, even though it’s a bit weird being there without Kurt,” Guillermo admitted, “but I think waiting was the best decision, especially since we were in the middle of the big brawl and everything,” he nodded.

There was a pause, “even though I was thinking of maybe getting some new dice? Maybe that will help me with my throws?” he considered.

"Well," Graham grinned with an amused chuckle, "if there's one thing we have plenty of here, it's new dice. And maybe a new set really would start to turn your luck around! It certainly wouldn't hurt to try!"

Guillermo smiled at that, “I hope so, otherwise it might just be me,” he admitted, which he didn’t want to think about him just being really unlucky with his throws, “but I thought it might be good to get a new set just in case,” he said, “do you have any recommendations?”

"Hmmmmmmm...." Graham hummed, somewhat dramatically, especially for a hum, as he placed a hand to his chin and narrowed his eyes scrupulously at Guillermo in careful consideration.

"I do love a good theme," he mused, eventually, as his thoughtfulness on the matter deepened. You could tell he was thinking particularly hard by the way his finger was now rubbing his chin. "Maybe something really dark and....vampire-y? Or is that a little too on-the-nose?"

Guillermo was watching Graham as he thought it over and then his eyes lit up at the mention of getting dice that were potentially vampire related, “I don’t think so, I would love a theme like that,” he assured Graham.

Graham nodded a little at that, with a sort of pleased affirmation of his thought process, but it was clear he wasn't quite done with his speculations yet. "And how do you feel...." he ventured, hand leaving his chin to lift a pointed finger, "about glitter?"

“Oh I do love glitter,” Guillermo smiled and then he went a bit red, looking a little embarrassed with that reveal, “I ... I uh... also love a lot of things that sparkle,” he admitted.

Once again, Graham nodded, the exact same nod of his thought process being confirmed. "I thought you might say that," he said, "because you," Graham's finger waggled at him approvingly, "are a man of taste, Guillermo! I think I might have a few ideas..."

With that, he went to go locate the sets he was thinking about, which was apparently quite a few of them, because he spent a lot of his downtime here in the shop just marveling through the different dice sets with dreamy eyes and practically thinking of all the different types of characters he would match up to various different ones. So for this? He definitely had a few ideas already!

"Now, obviously, if we were to go with glitter, I'd say that this beautiful set," and here, he presented the container of dice in his hand over the counter toward Guillermo, much like a jeweler would be showing off some fine ornament or pendant to a prospective buyer, "is a fine choice for the glitter enthusiast with a dramatic red in a shade sure to enflame any vampire's desire. Quite nice by their own, but you could also make for a strong pairing with this set of glittery black to match!

"Now, if you're into something shiny, you simply can't go wrong with the elegance of gold, as shown in this particularly lux set, for the very refined gentleman, and it doesn't get much shinier than metal dice, either!

"But sometimes," Graham concluded, with a pleased little grin for how well his presentation was going, "all that glitz and glamour is unnecessary, overstated, so perhaps something just a little more simle but undeniably sanguine might be in order! It's hard to deny the inherent vampiric appeal of a set like these!"

And, with those options now there and presented to Guillermo between them on the counter, Graham beamed over at him.

"And that's just the first ones off the top of my head!"

Guillermo was very tempted to just get all of the sets but realised that wasn’t really practical and that maybe he could get just a couple?

He went over the dice several times as he tried to make a decision.

“They’re all really great,” he said as he went back to the glittery ones, he really liked the red ones the most, ”um I think I might go with …” he had one more long look over them, “the red glitter set,” he decided on the first one, “and I’ll go with this last set here as well, I really can’t choose between them,” he admitted.

"Yeah," Graham agreed with an all-too-understanding smile, and a faint chuckle of relief, not even having realized that he'd been holding his breath a little at the suspense of Guillermo taking his time to make his decision--after all, it was entirely possible that he wouldn't have liked any of them, and then what? "It can be really hard to pick just one. It's honestly a miracle I don't leave here every week with a new set for myself! But you really picked out some good ones, Guillermo. I think those are my favorite ones out of these options, too!"

Guillermo smiled brightly at that, “thank you for helping,” he said shyly, “I can’t wait to use these new dice,” he added enthusiastically, “I’m sure I can make excellent throws with these new dice,”

He hoped anyway, otherwise it was entirely possible he was just really unlucky.

"If not?" Graham offered, with a little hopeful, crooked grin of encouragement and a gesture toward all the other dice sets available. "We can keep trying until you do!"

Guillermo returned the grin, “I may still be picking up the other sets after all,” he said, feeling his cheeks start to redden, “but at least I’ll end up with a nice dice collection right?”

Ah, yes. The true mark of a tabletop gamer: significantly more dice than one could ever conceivably be able to actually use.

"Plus," Graham offered, because, clearly, more convincing was needed her, "if you have several sets, then that just means if one's giving you trouble, you can just switch to a different one!"

Because, yup. Totally how it worked.
