MHA, lobby and around the building

There were a few new residents, and with a new semester starting you never knew what someone might need, so Jon was taking this opportunity to both check out the building a bit and make himself available to everyone. He'd even brought a few snacks (biscuits and sodas) into the lobby.

And if he had to be going through the lobby a lot, he was going to do his laundry too, why not?

So if anybody had any questions, or needed to ask about renting, there was a ~~landlord~~ building manager right there!

There had been a lot going on...even before the end/start of the term and all that nonsense. Billy hadn't seen Jon for more than a ~~handwaved~~ wave and quick word in passing. He hadn't meant for time to get away from him like that. It just... had.

So Billy felt a bit of relief when he saw Jon out and about. Shifting the bag of laundry to his other shoulder he gave a wave as walked out of the elevator towards the laundry room.

"Hey Jon. Good to see you're... Out and about" he said.

"More or less," Jon agreed. He was starting to look a bit ragged again, but not exactly rough. "I hope you've been well."

"Busy but good. Keeps me out of trouble" Billy said with a smirk. "Been doing some tinkering out at the shop. Few new sims and all set up I've been running and fine tuning. Think they turned out really good."

See, Jon? He could learn! Putting something out there and imply an invitation without having to be all awkward and conversational about it.

"How about you? Survived the semester. Ready for another one?"

"I do hope so," Jon said. "And I have a cat for now, which is...it's nice." Issa was currently draped over the back of the sofa in his flat, enjoying the sun.

"Ah did the cat-sitting thing. Good," Billy said with a small yet sincere smile. It was nice seeing Jon doing something good for himself for a change.... and apparently fairly willingly too! Small miracles!

He gave the laundry bag a little tug.

"And please tell me the machines are up and running. My entire wardrobe (small and pitiful as it was) is all in here."

"Oh, yes!" Jon said. "I'm in one, but the others are free. And I have, um. Biscuits and things here." He waved at them. "I thought maybe if new people wanted to meet the old ones."

"Look at you, being all socially prepared," Billy grinned but left it there. He knew better than to poke at the man too much.

"What class are you teaching this time around?" Billy asked as he headed towards the machines. "I had considered doing something over the summer but that fell through and I'm not sure I am ready for a full term of being a responsible role model."

"Oh, um, Books and Libraries," Jon answered. "It'll probably be as much 'what not to touch' as Dewey Decimal. I'm...I'm not exactly a role model myself, but I can be helpful."

"Anything that can keep people out of trouble is a help in one situation or another" Billy said as he started loading the machine with clothes. He paused to strip the shirt he was wearing off and tossed it in. (Sorry Jon, he was really out of clean clothes. If it wasn't the public laundry room he'd probably be down to his skivvies right about now.)

"I'd thought about a classic "How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse" class. But, it's probably best not to get on the band's bad side if I ever want to go back to Caritas huh?" he said with a laugh.

"Er..." Jon blinked at him. "I wouldn't ever...that is, I don't mean it as a judgement, but...I'm curious if there's a reason why you've waited so long to do laundry that you have no clean shirts."

Honestly, Billy.

Billy gave a shrug.

"Just... haven't gotten around to it yet..."

You had another Goose on your hands here, Jon. Lucky you.

"I try to not let it get this bad.... kinda snuck up on me this time, I guess."

If Jon had a caretaking bone in his body, he could easily end up bullying half the building into self-care (however hypocritical it was).

Fortunately, he did not.

"Right. Well. If you'd like biscuits...'cookies'...and soda when you're done, I'll be right outside."

Which he was doing now. He didn't need to stand and watch his shirtless friend do laundry.

Billy nodded and turned his attention back to the laundry pile. It was a bit later but with one load washed and dried and another started, Billy popped back into the lobby.

"Yeah.... mental note to self. Next time don't let the laundry pile up THAT much before doing laundry." He gave a sigh "This is gonna take a while..."

"It's...well, there's no time limit on the room," Jon pointed out. It wasn't like it backed up on anyone's rooms, so there wasn't a point. He waved vaguely at the cooler of sodas (set up right in front of the vending machine) in invitation.

Billy nodded and grabbed a can out of the cooler and cracked it opened. "Never been good at the whole domestic self care stuff" he said with a shrug. "Live your entire life in survival mode, literally, some things just kinda fall through the cracks."

Between crap role models, 'wonderful' military experiences, the whole zombie apocalypse thing, and living as a wanted man in hiding for the last 5 plus years... yeah laundry management wasnt high on the life skills mastery list.

"I'm...yes, I'm familiar with that," Jon said. "It's...it can be hard to get back to normal."

He was still struggling with it some days.
