“We were called away last week. Hopefully you all saw the note,” Stark said once everyone had arrived.

"It was a whole thing," Summer added, waving a dismissive hand. "But, hopefully, it'll be a hot minute before anyone needs to go help take down a resurgent bogus galactic empire again, so that means you guys'll have plenty of opportunities to impress us and wow us and probably also gross us out a little, which is fair, because we plan on grossing you out a little, too."

Well, Summer planned to, anyway.

“We do?” Stark asked, looking mildly concerned. “I don’t remember agreeing to that.” He had agreed to that when he’d agreed to this class, obviously. “I thought we were just trying to have you all cook something interesting for us.”

He was very aware that with Summer involved the word ‘interesting’ would be doing a lot of heavy lifting.

"Well, yeah," Summer grinned, with an overexaggerated roll of her eyes. "Interesting is the whole point! So, if you already know what Chopped is, then you also already know what I mean. If you don't know what it is….well, basically, it's a competition cooking show where the contestants are given a box of ingredients and expected to put them together into something edible. Simple enough, right? Usually, the boxes are pretty random, and the challenge is to make something impressive with, like…green onions and sour candies, or, like, maple syrup and half a California sushi roll. But we're going to make it a little more personal than that. We're not making your boxes as random as that. Each box is going to be inspired by something very near and dear to us, and that….is cupcakes.

"But not just any cupcakes We're doing….!"

It was at that point where Summer, clearly living her best life as either a television host or an evil super villain in the middle of her big monologue (was there really that much of a difference?), moved over to a cloche on the counter and pulled off the cover to reveal.

"...terrible cupcakes!

"This here, specifically, is a wheat germ and ginger wasabi cream with tuna creme fraiche cupcake. And so, in your boxes, you'll find elements of this cupcake that you'll have to use in some way that's not a cupcake."

“Please don’t make it a cupcake,” Stark added quickly. He could only take so much,

"Anyone who just makes another cupcake," Summer decided with a decisive nod, "has to eat the cupcake. And if everyone makes a passable dish, then we'll eat the cupcake."

“We will?” Stark said, eyeing the cupcake warily. What had he gotten himself into?

"Everyone," said Summer, clearly ignoring that and focusing her attention on the class. "You may open your baskets."

“Good luck,” Stark said. They were all going to need it.

At least one of your teachers already is wondering exactly that, so you'll be in good company!

If someone had to jump on the bullet of eating the cupcake, Raiden knew he was the best-equipped person for that job.

But man, did he not want to eat that cupcake. And finding a food he didn't want to eat was rare.

Goose was really curious about what that cupcake tasted like and was considering just making the cupcake so that he could actually eat it.

The ingredients from the cupcake that you'll find in the boxes are: wheat germ, wasabi, canned tuna fish, and creme fraiche. There's a moddable pantry of other ingredients to use, but each of the boxed ingredients must be present. You have until ~~handwavey time~~. Good luck!

Guillermo was absolutely in his element here.

He thought for a moment as he considered the ingredients that he had to include and then he decided to turn them into a pizza and for good measure he decided to add in onion, jalapeños and bell pepper to the recipe.

It was going to be a rather interesting pizza.

Raiden decided to make an ~elevated~ tuna salad using the wasabi, creme fraiche, and an avocado from the pantry, and made crackers using the wheat germ and some buckwheat flour to serve it on. Ooh, did they have any caviar he could use to top it? That would really bougie it up.

Given the choice, Hannibal would have preferred fresh tuna, but you worked with what you had.

In this case, that meant busting out the gnocchi.

Time's up, utensils down! After a dramatic countdown, you should have two plates ready to go to present to your esteemed judges to leave them either pleasantly surprised, or really regretting some choices they've made this semester.

It was honestly surprising that Goose had been allowed back in the Community Centre for cooking related classes after last year.

In what was no way surprising at all, Goose ended up making the cupcake just so he would be able to eat it.

Stark gave Goose a terribly betrayed look. And then turned that look on Summer, and then on the cupcakes.

"Now we all have to try it!"

Why, Goose. Why.

“I wanted to see what it tasted like,” Goose admitted sheepishly by way explanation.

He realised he could have just asked to taste one of the cupcakes without making it but then that was asking Goose to use logic.

When it came to food Cutter had no idea what he was doing, he didn't even know how to make a cupcake so he ended up trying to make some sort of stirfry and added in a lot of noodles.

He didn't actually know how to make a stirfry and it just resulted in being a big mess that didn't resemble food at all.

Yeah there were several reasons Connor had moved in with Abby for a time back when. One of those was because he was terrible in the kitchen. So this, was not going to end well....

But there he was with not another cupcake - he could follow directions- but he did have a small bread loaf that he was presenting. It didn't look all that appetizing and it probably tasted about as good as it looked.

"Baked gnocchi with tuna and mushrooms, topped with toasted wheat germ and wasabi creme fraiche."

It was probably actually quite good, if he said so himself. Bread crumbs would have been his preference over the wheat germ, but again - you worked with what you had.

Assuming you can even look them in the eye after what you've just fed them.

Summer is absolutely looking far too proud of herself, as usual, but she's definitely around if anyone wants to do more than shake their head in mildly horrified disappointment at her.

Stark is around, probably giving Summer betrayed looks, but available for talking if he isn't too traumatized by the culinary horrors that have been unleashed.
