It didn't look like anyone's guest was in the cells this morning so that was a good indicator that everyone was mostly getting along. Diego sat down at his desk, and ignored the pile of paperwork someone had unloaded on him, instead focusing on texting out invites to his Bachelor Party.

And, no, you weren't getting one, Ralph and Calvin.

MM had left Annie and Kimiko to their own autumnal devices at the festival thing, instead following the directions Annie gave him to check out where Diego worked. And Ralph and Calvin were kind of getting looks as MM headed in, because -- nice...armor?

"You know, when Annie kept insisting you were a cop, I kind of figured it was a cover story?" he noted in greeting. "Your girl is not a good liar."

But no, this part did appear to be completely legit.

Diego laughed softly. "Yeah, lying isn't her strong suit, but that was kind of the truth. I'm barely a cop. I don't even like cops, really."

"Something we have in common," MM offered lightly, looking around the station with interest. "I met one of your coworkers yesterday -- he said y'all don't see a lot of action. Seems like a nice town."

Like, if you had to be in law enforcement, seemed like a nice place to do that law-enforcing.

"It's super boring most of the time," Diego admitted. "Which coworker did you meet--the grumpy one, the tattooed one, or the old timey one?"

"The old-timey one," MM replied with a smile. "Is Tattooey that SEAL you two brought in last year?"

Because then it would track if Grumpy was the short one who'd apparently picked a fight with Homelander and lived to tell.

"Yep," Diego said with a nod. "They'll all be at the Bachelor Party."

So...yeah. That thing couldn't get too nuts just for the amount of cops there.

"Yeah, 'bout that -- I'll do what I can, but you know Frenchie's gonna decide this thing needs strippers, right?" MM pointed out. "Unless he's changed a lot since I got married."

[knife_bender]

"If he gets strippers two of my brothers might die from embarrassment," Diego said. "And we just got the wedding party balanced, so can we try to avoid that?"

[outlander_fan]

"I'll handle him," MM decided, nodding. "Even if it means I end up going to some sketchy-ass strip club with him to spare the rest of you. Happy wedding, there's your present."

This is what you got for not having a registry.

"Perfect gift. Thanks, man," Diego said with a smile. "I'm sure Baltimore has plenty of strip clubs to keep him occupied."

"He's gonna want weird stuff," MM sighed, knowing this to be true. No lap dances for Frenchie; he was gonna want, like, a show. With variety. "You excited? I remember I just wanted to get it over with when Monique and I were a month or so out."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm really excited," Diego said with a smile. "Kind of still doesn't feel real, you know?"

Honestly, he was still expecting something terrible to happen before the actual wedding. That's how their luck usually went.

"It didn't feel real for me until we said 'I do,'" MM noted, his smile softening a little as he nodded. "How'd you ask her, anyway?"

You know who was a sucker for a great love story? This guy, right here. He'd also been the only one to get real excited about looking at Annie's ring last month, and had asked to see pictures of her dress.

Charlie wanted to see the Troopers (and score a fake police badge because he was five and that stuff was still cool), so Steve had taken him for a walk--the long way, to avoid the bakery--and was now ushering the kid into the station.

"Howzit, Diego?" he said, grinning.

"Great, I don't have a guest bothering me," Diego said, not looking up from his phone. Then he noticed that Steve wasn't alone. "...no offense."

Steve laughed. "Technically, this is Danny's guest. Charlie, Diego. Diego, this is Danny's son, Charlie."

[knife_bender]

"Hey, man." Probably wouldn't be appropriate to apologize for Danny being the kid's father, right? "Having fun?"

Charlie gave him two thumbs up. "Where's Danno sit?"

Because that's where the snacks were hidden.

"Over there," Diego said, pointing. "He never locks his desk."

Or, rather, he had learned to not lock his desk after multiple people broke into it.

Charlie went racing off, yelling, and Steve leaned against the nearest desk. "That kid has too much energy."

"Well, yeah, that's what they do," Diego said. "Should I ask why he calls Danny by his name?"

"Grace started it," Steve said. "She couldn't said Daddy, it came out Danno and it stuck. So now Charlie does it too."

[knife_bender]

"Oh, okay. So it's not some deep psychological problem." There had been a period of time where Diego's dad only wanted to be referred to as The Monocle, so. He had history backing his thinking.

"Not as far as I know," Steve said with a chuckle.

Maybe let's not examine why Steve also calls him Danno.

Uh, yeah, Diego was not equipped to think too hard on their weird relationship.

"Oh, good," Diego said. "So it's the good kind of visit then? Radio made it seem like half the town was being traumatized."
