The Devil's Nest, Tuesday Night

Well, everyone's parents were gone, and Lucifer hadn't had to deal with any relatives of his own. He called that a success.

THIS WEEKEND

There. That seemed like a great idea to cash in.

Lucifer hummed to himself, and retreated to the piano for a range of 'fuck you, dad' songs.

Marc didn't normally hit the Devil's Nest on Tuesday nights but frankly there were more reasons that he needed a drink than he could count and there was not enough booze back at the apartment to do it. Wine, yes. Useful alcohol, no.

Upon entering he took a look at the sign. "That only for people who came for the weekend?"

Dwight was oblivious to any other Hendrickson drama that might have gone on over the weekend. But that sign was very on point and tempting so he made his way into the Devil's Nest and took a seat at the bar.

"Yes, otherwise it would just say 'free whiskey'," Lucifer said, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, you get two free drinks," Lucifer informed him, sweeping towards the bar.

Amaya wasn't usually the type that couldn't handle being alone with her own thoughts, but a certain bouquet of meat roses and a book about gardening was making it just shy of impossible for her to manage it that evening. So off to the bar it was, and the Devil's Nest was just that slight bit closer, and you know what? Here she was, not even with a drink yet, and already finding a good distraction in squinting at the specials board and wondering if she could make a good case over the fact that Dave had been a bit of a pain in her rear lately on account of the fact that he was molting....

"I'm just saying they could still be here," Marc pointed out. He took a seat at the bar. "Not that it matters. I'm guessing 'free' doesn't mean a heavy pour."

"Ok.... not that I don't appreciate free drinks but.... now I'm a little worried," Dwight said raising an eyebrow at Lucifer.

"Oh, if it isn't the buxom blacksmith," Lucifer greeted, from by the bar. "What can I get Tiny to get you?"

"Depends on how badly your story drives me to drink," Lucifer offered.

"Well, I assume you'd need it after your arse of a father turned up this weekend," Lucifer pointed out.

Marc inclined his head in acknowledgement of a fair point. "Nothing new or exciting. Weekend actually went fine, other than whatever the fuck happened the other night."

Marc understood that what had happened was Taweret actually showing up. "Whatever the fuck" was how he tended to summarize anything related to the gods, however.

"Well," said Amaya, "I gotta admit, that whiskey's sounding like it'll hit the spot, though it'll be more than just the glass, and I guess I should count myself lucky I'll be having to pay full price. Unless you're willing to make exceptions for lobsters in molting."

She figured it wouldn't hurt to at least throw it out there.

"Crap... he didn't come in an cause trouble did he?" Dwight asked, a mix of horror and concern on his face.

Lucifer eyed him. "Very descriptive."

"I threw him out of the bar for being filth," Lucifer said, pouring Dwight a large glass without asking. "Here. To controlling bloody fathers who don't know how to listen."

"Sadly, no," Lucifer said, waving at Tiny. "But I'll ask him to grab you a full bottle, then?"

"I've been told I'm an amazing storyteller," Marc replied. Or that he was an asshole who never shared anything. One of those.

Dwight sighed and rubbed his head.

"Thanks," he said taking the glass and lifting it to toast Lucifer and then downed a good bit of it. "Sorry you had to deal with him," Dwight offered apologetically.

Marc gave Dwight a nod when he saw him. Marc was, of course, the last person to start conversation if there was a chance the other person wanted to drink in peace.

"Just so long as it's a big one," Amaya agreed with a nod. "And how've you been, Lucifer? Fairly easy weekend for you, I hope?"

Dwight gave a nod in return. "How's it going, Marc?" That was a double question of sorts. Dwight had spoken with Marc a handful of times only and had only just met Steven at the 3MDs, so he was pretty sure he had the right guy but, well, his brain was still a bit frazzled from the weekend.

"A big bottle of whiskey for the big bosomed... weaponsmith," Lucifer called, and Tiny scarpered off accordingly. "No relatives on my part, thank... well, you know. We don't need the miserable lot 'round here."

"I'm just sad he left before I could drop him in the dumpster, personally."

[my_own_advocate]

"That sounds like a lie," Lucifer commented. "On your part or theirs."

"Survived the weekend," Marc said, the accent confirming Dwight had gotten it in one. "You?"

Layla had told him nothing about their encounter.
