The Preserve; Late Saturday Afternoon [10/01].

The worst thing about being stuck here (other than part about being stuck here itself) was that it seemed that Gladio couldn't even do anything about it. It was particularly frustrating because there was definitely a lot he could be doing back in Insomnia, but no. This goddamn place decided to be weird and Fandom and practically kidnap him for the time being. And for what? Prompto had been going on with theories about Purpose and Fate, that the island had obviously brought them back for reasons, but that was ridiculous. As much as he liked Annie, somehow, he wasn't going to buy it that the island making sure he was around to attend her wedding was quite on the same level as Prompto having a kid on the way.

And no matter how much they tried to ply his favor with Cup NoodlesTM, he really could not just stay at their place until he figured this out. It was weird, it was awkward, he was honestly a little mad at Prompto for making him think he was dead when apparently he'd just been playing house here in Fandom for the past two weeks, while he and Ignis and Iris and all the others were busting their asses off trying to pick up the pieces...

But it wasn't like he could have done anything else, right? Gladio had been trying to call Ignis every chance he got, calling and texting Iris and Talcott and Cindy and Aranea....nothing. The gnomes at Portalocity weren't budging, either, no matter how much he just glowered and badgered them and just tried to be overall intimidating. So he was stuck (at least until the wedding was over, if Prompto's crackpot theory was correct), and, feeling like he needed to at least do something, he was just going to take up the suggestion for camping and head out into the preserve, where he could at least get some peace and quiet to sort through his feeling.

He'd managed to procure at least a tarp for now, since it looked like it might rain overnight, and he definitely planned on staying out here, but he'd have to go bother Summer about cutting him a deal on some new gear if this was going to be a thing for a while. But it didn't take long, after he'd found a good spot and started to settled in, with a nice campfire and a few of the Cup NoodlesTM pilfered from Prompto and Liz's pantry, that he started to feel a little better.

Not great, obviously. Nothing about this was great. But it was always at least nice, out here in the woods, where he maybe didn't have to worry as much.
