The Photo Hut - Tuesday

Since last Thursday had ended up being really busy, Liz wanted to try and work on some of the paper work that she didn’t get to last week. She had her five month check up later and she wanted to try and get as much work done as she could in the meantime.

The first thing she did was start going through some inventory and ordering in more stock after the items that had been sold last week and then she sat down to start catching up on the general admin work that she normally did on Thursdays since she didn’t want to fall too behind with her paperwork.

Steven came by in the morning. Well, late morning, it was Steven. Though he was dressed in the combination of clothes that was used when he and Marc anticipated trading off without going home, which was Marc's clothes but one of Steven's jackets.

This might have raised questions about who it was when he came in but he was holding a brightly colored gift bag which, let's face it, ruled out Marc twice over.

"Morning, Liz," Steven said. "Hope I'm not here at a bad time."

“Steven hi,” Liz smiled when she saw him, “no you’re not interrupting anything, just catching up on some paperwork that I missed last week before my appointment later,” she told him, “how have you been?”

"Good," Steven said. "Aiming to get Marc out and about if it's at all possible, no matter him making a fuss. But I had this for you."

He held up the gift bag and then placed it on the counter. "Viola! It's not much. Only a little something to say thank you for taking care of the fish while I was away."

Liz smiled at the gift as she looked inside the bag and took it out, “thank you,” she told him, “this is adorable, you really didn’t have to do this, I was happy to look after your fish,” she added.

"Ah, now I did remember you saying you didn't need a gift for that," Steven said, smiling. "That's why it's not technically for you. It's for the little one. After all, she helped too, didn't she?"

and now with the right comment

Liz smiled at that, “she will love it,” she told him, “she was a great help making sure the fish were fed and Marc’s plant was looked after, it can go in the nursery when we start setting it up,” she added.

I saw nothing

"Brilliant," Steven said. "Hope she likes it. We got it from the aquarium over there. Seemed the right theme. It was Llewellyn's idea to get the otter."

“Thank you, both of you,” Liz smiled, “it’s a lovely gift, it was definitely a good idea with the otter. I’ll thank Detective Watts when I see him next,” she added, “how was the Aquarium?” she asked.

"It was wonderful," Steven said. He fished in his jacket pockets for his phone. "Here, I took plenty of photos if you'd like to see them. Oh! Reminds me, do you do printing here? If someone's got photos on their phone they'd like framed? Llewellyn's been wanting to do that with some of his, I thought you'd be the expert there."

“We can definitely do printing here,” Liz smiled, she nodded as she told him, “and we have a range of frames you can choose from as well,” she added, “I’d love to see the photos you took,”

"Brilliant. I'll make sure to let him know I guessed right," Steven said. Having found his phone, Steven unlocked it (and Liz might spot a new picture of Steven and Llewellyn as the wallpaper if she was looking closely enough) then brought up the gallery of images from the trip. "Hang about, it'll be out of order but I'll show you the cat restaurant first so you can tell your Hellboy all about it. How were things here, by the way? Everything all right with you and Prompto?"

Liz did spot that new wallpaper and smiled when she saw the photo, “he’ll definitely be excited to hear about the photos of the cat restaurant, I’m sure he’d try and find a way over to your universe and adopt all those cats,” she added, “and things were great here, mostly quiet except for Thursday, it was actually rather busy that day,” she said, “and things are going well with me and Prompto,” she paused, “actually speaking of Prompto what are you and Marc doing this weekend? On Saturday?”

"Well Nell's got her shop opening that day," Steven said. "So we'll be stopping by there. Even Marc, no matter how he fusses. But no plans otherwise. Unless that's what you meant?"

“Oh I didn’t realise the opening was so soon,” Liz admitted, “I’ll definitely have to stop by,” she considered, “Summer and I are organising a birthday party for Prompto since his birthday is on Monday, it’s going to be later on Saturday - we’re having a karaoke party at Furnando’s and I would like it if you or Marc could attend if you could?”

She did realise how awkward this could be but she did want to try and introduce Prompto to her new friends, especially now that it had been a month since he had come back.

"I mean Marc's not one for karaoke," Steven said as far warning. But of course there was the flip side which was, "Me? I mean I'm keen to meet him, but at a birthday party? Are you sure that'd be all right?"

“Prompto doesn’t actually know he’s having a birthday party,” Liz told him, “it’s a surprise party, since this is the first one he’s been able to properly celebrate in a while,” she added, “I think it would help, being able to introduce you and it would be nice for him to meet some new people as well, I’m pretty sure it will be all right,”

Liz was not a hundred percent sure but she didn’t want to deter Steven from going if he wanted to attend.

Steven didn't mind going. He wanted to meet someone who was so important to Liz, and he also wanted to do it when Liz was comfortable. So that was two reasons right there. "Would it help if I brought Llewellyn? Don't know if he's free but maybe that way it's clear I'm already taken? He and Llewellyn have met as well."

Llewellyn had warned Steven about the beard, for example.

Liz smiled, “it’s definitely alright if you’d like to bring Detective Watts,” she said, “I didn’t realise he and Prompto already knew each other, so having someone else he knows would definitely be nice for him,” she added.

"Don't know offhand if he's free but I'll ask," Steven said. "Should we bring a gift, do you think? It is his birthday. Don't know what he likes though. Besides you, obviously."

“We’re actually encouraging donations to Furnando’s in place of gifts,” Liz told him, “I mean you’re welcome to bring a gift if you’d like but we thought this would also be a good way to raise money for the shelter for Prompto, Prompto’s very passionate about Furnando’s and the animals,” she explained.

"That's easy enough then," Steven said. "No last minute shopping there. You know I've not been to the shelter? Marc went by when we got here. That's where he got the fish."

Blame Summer's prep for her class that evening for the sudden burst of party planning inspiration that led to Liz getting at text at some point:

omg cupcakes or regular cake, re:this weekend?

She kept it vague because she knew how creepily close the squirrels could get to people on their phones, but she figured Liz would know what she meant.

cupcakes. Definitely cupcakes Liz wrote back, remembering that was one of the foods Prompto wanted when he came back and then there was a pause before she added do you think we could have both? Liz knew that Prompto would love both so she figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

that’s all good, thanks again for helping Liz wrote back, then there was another text are you sure you don’t want any money for the food? she didn’t think Summer would take it out of Prompto’s pay but she thought she’d check anyway if she could offer to contribute towards the costs.

Plus, like, her boyfriend was rich and she herself was making bank, so even with two dress splurged and a suit for Stark, money wasn't really that much of a concern for Summer. In fact, a cake and some cupcakes was practically nothing to her at this point.
