Well, he wasn't a cat anymore and he was back in clothing that fit. He even kindly put Steve's spares back in his desk for him.

And the paperwork Steve had been avoiding was still there.

"I swear to god," he grumbled, picking it up to just finish for him.

Steve came in with his shirt absolutely covered in ketchup. "So. Today blows."

But since Danny had seen him covered in blood before--normal things!--it wasn't too immediately horrifying? Hopefully?

"What in the Stephen King hell is this?" Danny asked, not knowing it was coming for him next.

"I liked the cats better," Steve grumbled. "It got my workout clothes too."

"What is it?" Because it wasn't blood, thank god.

"Ketchup, I think," Steve said. "It just showed up."

"I have a lot of questions here," Danny said after a moment.

Which meant he had to get hit by red sauce. You know. To be on theme.

"Bet you have more questions now," Steve said.

"Christ, I hate this place sometimes." This was what he got for letting his guard down.

"At least it's not real blood?" Steve said. "That's much harder to get out."

"Oh no, this will stain too," he grumbled.

"At least your ties seem okay?"

Steve, why would you do that.

"...are you trying to destroy my wardrobe?"

No, no. Just the ties.

"Well, I'm not opposed to you in nothing--"

Danny gave him a shove for that, getting sauce all over Steve too. "Not in the office!"

"We can call out on account of copious fake bleeding?" Steve teased.

"I don't think that'll work, but nice try," Danny replied with a sigh.

Steve smiled. "Early lunch?" he suggested.

[hatesparadise]

"Early lunch," he agreed. "With a shower."

[grenadesandohana]

Steve smirked. "I have plans."

[hatesparadise]

"You have plans?" Consider Danny both impressed and amused by this.

"Well, it's not the Normandy invasion, but it's a plan," Steve said.

"I'll allow it," Danny decided.

Steve grinned. "Big of you, Danno."

[hatesparadise]

"I'm a real giver like that," Danny said, flicking some of the red sauce off his shirt and onto the floor.

"I've heard that," Steve agreed, grinning again. "Mostly from you."

"You've heard if from other people." Had he? Had he?"

[grenadesandohana]

"Mmmmm," Steve said, pretending to think about it. "Not really."

"I will leave spaghetti sauce all over your bathroom," Danny warned.

"Isn't it your bathroom too?" Steve asked.

Though Steve was 100 percent the only one cleaning the grout lines.

Deep cleaned those grout lines, in fact.

"Today it's yours."

With a specifically designated toothbrush, even!

"You get me the nicest things," Steve said dryly.

"It's because I love you so much." Something like that.

"And so you give me a dirty bathroom."

[hatesparadise]

"Exactly."

"Hope you enjoy those dirty socks for Christmas," Steve said.

"Babe." That was just cruel!

"Keep your spaghetti sauce outta my bathroom," Steve said, grinning.

"Oh, and the ketchup is fine?" Well, duh, Daniel.

"Well, no," Steve admitted, "but I'm not trying to spite-spread it through the bathroom."

"It's not out of spite!" It was definitely spite. "It's... spite adjacent."

Steve snorted. "Sure it is."

"Not the same thing at all," Danny assured him with a grin.
