Coffee was a necessity of life even with the whole... god thing. Well, not a necessity, but it still tasted good after so many years in academia. And she liked it.

Also, the pumpkin spice thing was still happening, so that was a win.

At the moment, however, Jane was looking at newspapers from the mainland as she drank her pumpkin spiced coffee and tried to decide where she should give the whole super hero thing a go first. Since New York seemed pretty well covered.

If Christopher changed his mind about his Halloween costume one more time, Anakin was going to throw all of the options out a window.

Coffee. He needed all the coffee.

"Morning," he said with a tiny smile and a nod as he came into the shop and spotted Jane.

"Anakin, hi!" Jane said, more than pleased to not have to make decision at the moment. Also because an option turned out to be New Jersey because there was apparently a hero there too.

And she did not want to go to New Jersey, guys.

"Class was fun yesterday," Anakin said, smiling again. "It's nice to stretch those muscles."

"You don't--" Oh yeah, there was the classic finger wiggle to describe The Force there. "--very much?"

Well, he was a parent now, Jane.

Anakin shook his head. "Only when something invades the island, these days."

[needsacatchphrase]

"Well, you could always practice like Rey does," she replied.

[sith_happened]

"I could," Anakin agreed. "I teach her on Fridays. But I don't really want to be in the shape I was when I was fighting a war."

Because it reminded him of fighting a war.

"That's... fair," Jane replied. "Maybe I got a little to used to being around Asgardians who are all about fighting and the like."

Anakin nodded. "I spent decades fighting," he said. "I'm...a little over doing it, honestly. I still could, of course, but I'd rather not."

"I did all my fighting with my mind," Jane replied, thinking back on everything. "So maybe this side is pretty novel to me."

[sith_happened]

"That makes sense," Anakin said, taking a sip of his coffee and choking. "Sithspit, what is this?"

Red Kool-Aid, Anakin. It tastes like red.

"...did you order wrong?" Oh, someone hadn't actually tried their coffee as they focused on the papers instead.

"Coffee, black," Anakin said, glaring into his cup. "It's not a difficult order."

Honestly, the pumpkin spice latte was Rey's reward for leaving the apartment for something besides training right now.

"Anything interesting?" she asked as she waited for her drink.

[needsacatchphrase]

"Local papers," Jane said, looking up with a smile. "Well, not here local, but East Coast local?"

There was also stuff happening in LA, it seemed. But she wasn't sure she wanted to go that far just yet?

"Like the mainland?" Rey asked. "What for?"

[needsacatchphrase]

"I am going to... do super hero things," Jane replied with a grin. "Fight crime, I guess. Not the city destroying part of it."

[thatwaslucky]

"I didn't know destroying cities was part of it but I'm glad you're skipping that," Rey smiled. "So this is how you're finding out where? Or are you looking for something specific?"

[needsacatchphrase]

"I'm trying to pick where," she admitted. "Because it sort of looks like people cluster up in New York. And also LA."

Someday they'd get the West Coast Avengers. Someday.

"And London. There was apparently a big alien that just stole some people."

Again, totally reasonable.

"...Stole some people?"

Oh no, you have activated her concern.

[needsacatchphrase]

"Right?" Jane said, nodding at it. "I asked Valkyrie and she just made a face and said it was above her paygrade?"

"And that's it? That would have driven me insane," Rey admitted.

[needsacatchphrase]

"I've sort of learned to not ask when she answers like that," Jane admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"I do get that," Rey told her. "Would you still stay here if you find somewhere to do this?"

[needsacatchphrase]

"I think I could commute," Jane said like it was totally an easy thing. "Flying and all."
