Connor was not upset about the cape. In reality, he was loving it and thought it was brilliant! There might have even been a little swish there as he stood at the counter and waited for his coffee order.

"So... this sort of thing happens often?" he asked, earning a small hand wave from the barista, which wasn't entirely helpful. "Eh, it's bloody brilliant in any case! I think it makes me look cool, whatcha think?"

Connor struck a cool so very goofy OMG pose. The barista simply lowered her gaze and handed the coffee over to Connor. He gave a small sigh, took the cup, and headed to one of the tables, definitely giving the cape another little swish as he did.

Anakin came into the shop, cape dramatically and effortlessly swirling around his ankles. It was almost like he'd been walking dramatically in a cape all of his life!

After the barista assured him his drink wouldn't turn into red drink today, Anakin placed his order for black coffee and gave Connor a little smile.

That WAS some impressive cape swishing there! Connor gave a small nod and a smile in return.

"You too huh?" he said with a slight gesture toward the cape. He hadn't seen many people before making it to the Perk so it hadn't quite clicked that this might be an 'everyone on the island' sort of thing. "At least the island has good taste."

"I enjoy capes," Anakin said, grinning. "I generally stick to robes these days."

Very normal thing to say! For Fandom!

"They are very cool I must agree," Connor said with a nod. "Little cumbersome if you are not used to them but that is a trade-off I will gladly take."

Cuz you know. Geeky kids turn into geek adults and all that.

"Make sure you keep your shoulders back and your chin up," Anakin said.

"Ah thanks... will try and keep that in mind." In case there were other random capes to be had. Though Connor might be tempted to find one to wear deliberately now and then....

"You need confidence to wear it," Anakin said, "even if it's for the day."

[anomaly_research_nerd]

"Ah sure. Confident. I can be confident" Connor said, sounding not at all confident in any way. "I take it you are fairly used to the whole cape and robe thing."

[sith_happened]

"I've been wearing them most of my life," Anakin confirmed.

[stykera]

"You look less ridiculous than I feel," Stark told him.

Which was not to say he didn't look ridiculous. Just less so.

"I look amazing," Anakin told him.

[stykera]

"Do you?" Stark asked. "I thought you just looked like yourself. But a little more dramatic."

[sith_happened]

Could he get more dramatic?

"Well, the collar's a little different," Anakin said.

[stykera]

He could look more dramatic.

"I don't like mine," Stark said, tugging at his own collar. "But taking it off doesn't help."

[sith_happened]

"It could be worse," Anakin said. "It could be a Santa hat."

[stykera]

"I like the hats better than this," Stark said. "The last time I wore a cape I ended up singing and losing my mask."

[sith_happened]

"I remember that," Anakin said.

[stykera]

"I haven't worn a costume since then." For reasons.

"But now I have a cape. Again." Stark sighed and flipped up the edge of the cape before twisting it in his hands. "I don't like it. And it catches on things."

[sith_happened]

"Oh, not if you walk correctly," Anakin assured him. "Would you like a lesson?"

[stykera]

"I don't walk correctly?" Stark asked just a little indignantly. "I don't need lessons on walking!"

Just walking in a cape.

[sith_happened]

"There needs to be more oomph when you're in a cape," Anakin advised.

[stykera]

"Don't I have oomph?"

No, Stark, you do not. What a silly question.

[sith_happened]

"No," Anakin told him, grinning.

[stykera]

"I didn't know I was supposed to," Stark admitted. He'd never considered 'oomph' before in his life.

[sith_happened]

"You do when you wear a cape," Anakin said with a wise nod.

[stykera]

"Nobody ever told me that!"

He'd had plenty of oomph when he was temporarily a Parisian opera singer though.

[sith_happened]

That's because people who choose that cape life have natural oomph.

"Well, how many times would it normally come up?" Anakin asked.

[stykera]

The cape with the mask was really overkill though.

"Not many," Stark admitted. "I haven't worn one on purpose since that Halloween. Except when I borrowed Din's...but I didn't have a coat. It was cold and I had to be out in the snow...but that wasn't the same as this one. Not at all."

[sith_happened]

Anakin rolled his shoulders, setting the cape to rippling. "This one requires some attitude."

[stykera]

"You're showing off."

Obviously.

[sith_happened]

"I'm demonstrating expertise."

Via showing off.

[stykera]

"But you're not showing me how so you're just showing off," Stark countered.

[sith_happened]

"Well, just do what I do," Anakin said.

[stykera]

"How am I meant to do that if I don't know what you did?"

They could probably talk in circles like this for days.

[sith_happened]

Anakin sighed dramatically. "Follow me. We'll work on making an entrance into the shop."

[stykera]

If nothing else this would keep Stark occupied for a bit.

And he did know how to sigh dramatically, at least.

"If you say so."

[sith_happened]

"I do," Anakin said with another swirl of his cape. "Come along."

[stykera]

"I'm coming," Stark said, following behind with his cape flapping in a much less dignified way.

[stykera]

Stark would be going to dinner later but it wasn't anywhere close to time for that and he wanted coffee and there was no reason not to take a walk over the coffee shop.

No reason except for the cape he couldn't get rid of which he kept fussing with and sighing over as he came in for his PSL.

He offered a nod and a small wave to Connor as he waited at the counter for his order.

Connor returned the wave with a small grin. Had Stark not been fussing over it the way he was, Connor might have thought it was part of the usual get-up. It really did complement the mask in a gothic 'phantom of the opera' sort of way. Not that Connor was going to say that out loud.

"The Pumpkin is really good today," he offered. "Thinking about grabbing a second one here soon myself," he added giving his mostly empty cup a little shake.

[stykera]

That was the whole problem! The cape gave off even more of a Phantom vibe.

"I always like the pumpkin," he agreed. "One of my favorites. But the peppermint will be good too."

[anomaly_research_nerd]

"Might try that one for drink number two... though the apple cider one sounds very tempting too" Connor admitted. "I've been missing the mulled wine from back home. Might have to try and make some myself if they don't start offering any" he said, a little louder than maybe needed, in case the baristas were taking note or anything.

[stykera]

"I think it isn't time for peppermint yet. That comes after pumpkin. There's caramel. That's always good. And I don't think they have wine here. But maybe at one of the bars?"
