Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

The lightsaber was done.

Rey had saved working with it for today. It worked, it wasn't going to blow up and take an arm off, but honestly there was one person she wanted to show it off to, so she waited to train with it. She was just going through Form III drills today, yellow blade flashing with movement as she did.

Summer definitely wanted to swing by to see Rey's shiny new lightsaber, but she did not arrive at the warehouse empty handed! There were definitely going to be some maple-glazed donuts in it for Rey, if she could manage to pull herself away from swinging it around enough to eat some.

She knocked on the door to the warehouse as a courtesy before poking her head in and calling out, "Reeeee~eeeey, I have dooooonuts~!" and then coming on in to see what she was up to at the time.

"You did come," Rey said, smiling and lowering the lightsaber.

"Of course I did," Summer stated. "I gotta see that sweet new lightsaber in action! Also, somehow I wound up with donuts and I cannot at them all myself. Up for a little break? With donuts?"

She tantalisingly danced the box in front of her.

"I think I can take a break for that," Rey said, shutting her lightsaber down and pulling a couple crates over to sit. "Thank you."

Maybe they should get a table for this place?

"Yeah, no problem," said Summer, popping that box open as she plopped herself down on one of those crates, taking a moment, like she usually did in the rare instances when she stopped into this warehouse, to note any changes from the last time and just generally admiring the whole set-up. "So how's it been working out for you so far?"

"I like it. It's a little strange, getting used to using parts from my staff differently," she said, holding it up for a moment because that handle used to be the middle. "But it's fun getting used to it."

"New weapons," Summer noted, shifting the box of donuts onto another crate so she could pluck one out for herself, "are always fun to get used to...well," she amended, "maybe not so much if you're sort of forced to get used to them in the moment, but you know what I mean. I bet it's especially cool because, you know, you, like, built this one yourself, right?"

"It is," Rey admitted, reaching for a donut. "There's something about getting to use something you've put so much work into that just feels good."

"So what are you going to focus on now?" asked Summer, around a mouthful of donut. "Now that the lightsaber's done?"

"Figuring out how to train somebody when I've only been doing this a few years," Rey said. "I don't quite know how to go about that."

"Rey?" Anakin called, coming into the warehouse.

Summer's brows lifted a little at that. "Who are you training?" she wondered, followed very swiftly by, "And teaching's not really that hard. Do you think I have any clue what I'm actually doing? And I've been teaching for, what? A few years now? Besides, you've been trained, right? By a few different people, so you just...take what worked for you, and try to see if that works for the person you're training, and, I don't know, adjust accordingly, I guess. Plus, you're smart and patient with a good head on your shoulders, I'm sure you'll be fine."

"You know Finn?" Rey said. "Not to mention anyone else I... guess I have to find, maybe? Which I haven't the faintest idea how to do. And the Jedi before me trained nearly from birth before they were promoted, and here I am."

"I'm here," she called from the midst of drills.

"Is it finished?" he asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"It's done." And she was maybe having fun with it.

"Let's see you go," Anakin said enthusiastically.

Rey had clearly been working pretty hard with the new lightsaber, and was about halfway through the routine. Every once in a while she'd change her grip a bit as she was still getting used to it, but she was enjoying herself.

Anakin watched proudly. "It looks like it's working well."

[thatwaslucky]

"It's taking a little getting used to," she said. "That's okay."

[sith_happened]

"New weight on the hilt?" Anakin guessed.

[thatwaslucky]

"And I'm used to holding the hilt differently," she nodded.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "Make sure you keep your wrists loose so you don't pull muscles that you don't normally use."

"Got it," she nodded, taking a second pause to rotate twirl the lightsaber to make sure her wrist was just that. "I like it."

Anakin's smile turned a little soft. "I'm glad. It should feel right."

Rey smiled back, and finished the rest of the routine before coming to a stop and shutting the lightsaber down. "So that's the new lightsaber."

"It's beautiful," Anakin said sincerely.

[thatwaslucky]

"Thank you," she said, smiling. "Goal accomplished."

It was a little bittersweet, but it was good.

Anakin smiled back. "Good. Well done."

Seriously, she lived for praise.

"I will be headed home in the next few days," she said.

"Everything all right?" Anakin checked.

[thatwaslucky]

"Yeah," she said. "I'm just... taking the lightsabers home."
