Buck was settled behind the reception desk when he came in, and took to browsing cooking sites on his phone during his shift. If he and Eddie were going to attempt anything Thanksgiving on their own they had to think realistically and find the simplest recipes known to man.

Or maybe they'd just go to LA and make Bobby cook for them. Depends on how complicated these things were.

"Any good recipes?" Eddie asked, coming in with what was definitely Buck's usual drink order because they were good pals like that.

Also as a bribe because he didn't want to do that research.

"I mean, there's lots of good recipes," Buck said. "Now, good recipes you and I could pull off? Different story."

"We could manage it." All evidence pointed to no, Eddie.

Buck lifted his eyebrows. "Have you even made a turkey before?"

"No, but as long as we don't deep fry it, it should be fine."

So many fires from those deep fried turkeys, folks. So, so many.

Yeah, but Buck wouldn't complain if someone else tried to deep fry their turkey this year.

"Okay, do you know the difference between stuffing and dressing?" Because Buck hadn't known until five minutes ago.

"...there's a difference?" Was this a trick question? It felt like a trick question.

"One of them goes up a turkey's butt and the other doesn't." Who knew?

"But it's the same thing otherwise?" Eddie said, making such a face at it.

"Well one gets turkey juices." Evan, please. Not the word juices. "That probably makes a big difference."

"Turkey juice from the butt," Eddie repeated. You know. To help him out there.

"Is that what Bobby has been giving us every year?" Buck asked. "Butt juices?"

[justalittlerepressed]

"...you get to ask." Eddie, that was mean.

[firehousehimbo]

"Well that's not fair, he'd only be calling me an idiot." When, in fact, both Buck and Eddie were idiots.

"Yeah, but he likes you better." Which was totally true.

[firehousehimbo]

"Okay, and what proof do you have of that?" Buck asked. "He fired me once."

[justalittlerepressed]

"You kind of deserved it if I remember that story correctly." He'd gotten it from Hen, so it had indeed been correct. "But he hired you back, so it doesn't really count anyway."

"It so does count." And he had deserved it, yes. "You know if we asked him he'd just say he likes Hen the best."

Okay, none of them could really compete with Hen. Her nervous breakdowns almost never spilled into the work area.

"But after Hen, you're his favorite."

"You're so weird." Let people love you, Eddie!

NEVER.

"It's true!" Eddie said, laughing. "Don't try to say it's not true."

"What's it matter who is or isn't the favorite?" Which is exactly what someone who is the favorite would say.

"You can ask him the things that'll get me laughed out of the station because of it." But he could always bond with Bobby over that sweet survivor's guilt at some point.

"Okay, give me an example," Buck said, crossing his arms over his chest. "I don't believe you."

Buck was unaware of his golden retriever energy that made people acquiesce to his dumbassery.

"I don't need to give an example." Because Buck. "Look, call anyone and they'll back me up on this."

Buck rolled his eyes. "Fine, fine. I'm the favorite. I guess I'll just have to accept that."

Oh no, what a terrible position to be in.

"Good," Eddie said with a nod. And then an expression that said this was a mistake.

"Wait, does this mean I'm your favorite too?" Buck asked. "Or is this just Bobby? And Hen. Actually I might be tied with Chim for Hen..."

"You're my..." Eddie said, really letting it drag out. Like a jerk.

Buck made an impatient 'hurry up' movement with his hands. "Spit it out."

"Second favorite." Incorrect, but it would be fun to see Buck's reaction.

Buck did look more offended than he should have. "Second?"

"Behind Ravi." Liiiiies.

[firehousehimbo]

Buck snorted. "If you wanted me to believe your lie you had to have come up with a better answer than that."

"It could be Ravi!" It really couldn't.

[firehousehimbo]

"Ravi is nobody's favorite." Aw, sorry Ravi.

[justalittlerepressed]

Poor, poor Ravi. No love.

"Would you believe Hen?"

[firehousehimbo]

"That I would believe!" Buck said. "Should have gone with her. Everybody loves Hen the best."

Which wasn't actually true, since Buck did like Eddie the best.

"She keeps the place from imploding without Bobby around," Eddie agreed.
