Wanda was almost thankful for having to work today. Sifting through the multiverse trying to find a specific thing -- a specific person -- was exhausting. It was almost like it was magic that shouldn't be messed with and ultimately wore down the user.

But that'd be silly.

So here she was, going over inventory lists she had been ignoring for awhile now.

Steven and Watts's little trip had ended that day, so it was in the afternoon when Marc stopped by with a small package in hand.

He took in the sight of Wanda working and said, "You can't get the skeleton to do that for you?"

"The one time he came to life he didn't seem too interested in the store's finances." Wanda couldn't blame him.

Given that the island had been swarming with children this weekend, Annie felt like ducking her head in to visit Wanda was probably a good idea. With any luck, she herself had been a little kid and had spent the weekend with Lucy and Ricky, or Samantha and Darin, or something like that. (Or, at the least -- Annie was crossing her fingers for none of these little kids calling Wanda 'Mom' or something.)

"That looks fun," she noted when she poked in, raising an eyebrow at what looked like obvious paperwork.

Even better -- Wanda wasn't even in this universe this weekend. Mentally, anyway.

"Oh it's thrilling," she said, looking up from her paperwork. "We get no customers; I don't know why this is so complicated."

Marc looked up at the skeleton and nope, he couldn't guess. "What was he interested in?"

"Really?" Annie asked skeptically. "People don't need, like...sage to burn or skulls to help commune with the dead or top hats?"

A pause, and, "My magic ignorance is showing, but I'd think you'd do a lot of business around here!"

"Being British mostly," Wanda replied. "At the time I was very sleep deprived so I just rolled with it."

"We might get more people on days I don't work?" she replied. "But mostly on Tuesdays it's people dropping food off for me. I should be paying them."

Their last few conversations had ended up being All About Steve, which was not his favorite thing. Since it was the first genuinely chilly day, he picked up two European-style hot cocoas--heavy on the chocolate, light on the sugar--and headed in to see Wanda.

"Hello?"

"Now I feel like I should have brought you something," Annie noted with a smile as she stepped in. "Though, honestly, I ate so much sugar this weekend that I might need a day to detox from everything fun, anyway. Were you little?"

And intensely focused on the Bradys' adventures, maybe?

"Been there," Marc said. Not that Steven was skeletal.

Speaking of British, Marc offered the package to Wanda. It was a four pack of Cadbury Crunchies. "I'm just the delivery guy."

Ignore how Marc had yet to truly complain about this.

Wanda had been pretty close to throwing all the paperwork to the floor by the time Steve came in, so the distraction was welcome. "Hey there."

"Oh, no, I wasn't," she said, frowning. "I didn't even realize anything was going on, actually."

Probably for the best.

"Did you have fun, at least?"

[scarlet_chaos]

"When are you going to accept being a delivery guy is a nice gesture in itself?" Wanda asked, happily taking the candy. "Oh I've missed these."

"You look like you could use a hot chocolate," Steve said with a smile, holding it out.

"I don't think of this shit," Marc pointed out. "That's all him."

That Steven also thought to keep insisting that Marc be the one to bring these things to Wanda was a nuance Marc had either missed or wasn't thinking too much about.

"Thanks," Wanda said, taking the drink. "I keep forgetting how annoying the management part of being a manager is."

[scarlet_chaos]

"It's still nice of you either way," Wanda said. "And you're just gonna have to deal with the embarrassment of performing a nice gesture for someone."

"I'll add it to the list," Marc said. "How were things here?"

Marc hadn't caught up on radio yet.

"Oh, I got my face painted and got to pet a dog," Annie told her with a sage nod. "Not a whole lot else needed to make my little four year-old dreams come true. A+ weekend even if I'm still feeling the sugar hangover. You were -- studying, then?"

Seemed like a safe guess.

That's all right, neither had Wanda.

"I was that sad lady who spent her whole weekend alone in her apartment," Wanda admitted. "So, no complaints."

Aside from, you know, how draining it was to use the Darkhold sometimes.

"Did you get to enjoy some of sights of London?"

[scarlet_chaos]

"Yeah," Wanda confirmed with a nod. "Turns out trying to find the key to exploring the multiverse is harder than it sounds."

"One of the first phrases I learned in this new century was about a meeting that could've been an email," Steve admitted. "SHIELD was very into long, long meetings."

Steve was pretty sure Coulson had used Powerpoint presentations as torture devices.

"Probably for the best that you didn't get waylaid by Brady specials and waffles this time, then," Annie offered. "Still, like, doing okay on your own with that?"

Annie was still up for helping, even if she had no idea at all how she could help. (Which she would later reflect probably had a lot to do with why people kept bringing Wanda food, since there was probably a lot of that going around.)

"At least we're not that corporate." Wanda didn't even know if her employees showed up half the time. She took a sip of the much needed hot chocolate. "Oooh this is good. Secret recipe?"
