Wednesday: Plant Parenthood

Nell and the kittens were bustling around. Alright, Nell bustled and the kittens practiced their sneak attacks on her. Still, lots of organizing and making of lotions and teas and caring for plants was happening.

By late afternoon, Nell had decided she could afford to sit and have a cup of tea and let the kitten pile in her lap for a bit.

Liz had been meaning to stop by and visit Nell since she had felt bad she had missed her birthday, so she stopped by that morning while she was on her walk, “hello?”

"Liz! Come on in!" Nell said. "I was just going to take a break with a cup of tea. Join me?"

“Tea sounds lovely thank you,” Liz smiled, “I’ve just been going for a walk, getting used to going for a long walk again?”

Nell pulled out a chair for her and went to get the water started. She brought back a selection of teas and a few scones and jam. "Please help yourself," she said. "And how are you feeling. I know you weren't feeling so well earlier."

“I’m feeling much better thank you and thank you for the jam, that was really nice,” Liz smiled as she took a seat.

"Oh you're very welcome," Nell said. "And please don't hesitate to drop by or call - or send Prompto - if you're feeling poorly again. I can always put together a tea or a tonic that should help."

Liz smiled, “thank you I’ll definitely remember that for next time,” she promised and then she opened her handbag and pulled out a small wrapped present offering it towards her, “I’m sorry I missed your birthday last week, happy belated birthday,”

Liz had knitted a couple of covers for Nell’s pots, they were both different shades of green.

"Oh! Oh my, why thank you," Nell said. "I, you didn't need to do that!"

She opened the gift and beamed. "You knit these for me? Oh Liz, thank you, they're beautiful!"

Liz smiled, “you’re welcome, I know they’re not much but I thought you could use them for a couple of your pots,” she explained.

"You made them with your own two hands," Nell said. "That makes them extra special."

“I’ve been enjoying knitting and making things,” Liz told her warmly, “I definitely wanted to make something special for your birthday and I know how much plants mean to you,”

"I appreciate it and I'm sure the plants will too," Nell said, rising again to bring the hot water over for the tea. "Did you end up a child over the weekend?"

“I didn’t, I think that’s the first time I’ve stayed the same when this has happened,” Liz told her with a smile, “Prompto did, so I was spending the weekend looking after him, even though I think Rain did most of the looking after,” she admitted, “how about you? Did you end up being a child?”

"I bet he was a sweet child," Nell said. "And I'm sure he was happy to have Rain there. And you."

She smiled shyly, remembering. "I was a child. It was a lovely time. I've always enjoyed that type of weekend."

“I don’t think he quite knew what to make of me but he definitely loved Rain,” Liz said with a smile and then she hesitated, “last year was kind of hard when I turned into a child, it’s … it’s what eventually led me to telling Prompto about my past and my powers, when we were adults again, I’m glad I told him but I was terrified with how he would react,” she admitted.

"It's good you managed to tell him," Nell said. "And I'm glad he was smart enough to understand."
