Raiden had to catch a portal home soon to get started on whipping up a proper Thanksgiving feast, but he had time first for a cup of coffee with his little brother who even happened to be awake for it!

He just had to talk sense into Gray before allowing him to order, because it wasn't Christmas yet.

"You can't stop me," Gray pointed out, not unreasonably. "It's on the menu and everything."

"You need to wait your turn, Smalls."

"It is my turn! It's on the menu! Your pumpkin thing isn't even on the menu any more!"

"They still have the syrup!" Raiden protested. "No Christmas until after Thanksgiving. That's the rule."

"That's Al's rule. It's not society's rule. It's been Christmas in Target since October."

He wasn't wrong.

"And they have the peppermint syrup year round." So there. He went in for the kill. "You know, one of these days we're gonna move out of America and then we won't even have Thanksgiving any more. Then Christmas can start whenever I want it to."

Raiden gasped. There might have been tears in his eyes. Look what you did, Gray. "How could you say something like that?"

Shit. Shit. Too much kill. "Ray..." Do damage control, Gray. "I'm sure wherever we move will have a feasting holiday! A-and we can still do Thanksgiving! We can import pumpkin and a turkey! It'll be great!" A beat. "But I'm still ordering a peppermint mocha."
