Around the island, Sunday afternoon

Steven and Llewellyn were men on a mission. Specifically a mission involving putting up fliers all around town. Specifically fliers which read:



Hanukkah Party
With Food & Friends
All Are Welcome
19 December, 8pm
Flat #15, MHA
(There's no dress code or anything. Don't have to bring anything either if you don't want. Just a bit of fun during the holidays. Though there will be alcohol so adults only, please.)

If one came away from reading said fliers with the impression that a much beleaguered print shop clerk had given up and simply typed in everything Steven said as he said it... well there was good reason for that.

“Far more convenient than carrying a bucket of glue with one everywhere,” Watts remarked, as he finished taping up a poster.

"I did wonder how you did it," Steven said. "I thought nails, maybe. But that can't be convenient either. Plus it'd damage where you were placing them, wouldn't it?"

Steven looked proudly at the stack of posters he was carrying. "I will say the clerk was well thrilled when she heard what sort of flier we were thinking of. From your time and all. Seemed to like the challenge of making it look right."

Until Steven kept adding things. At which point the clerk was more thrilled about the idea of when she could clock out and go home.

“They do look quite authentic,” Watts said approvingly. “Good job.”

Now Steven looked thrilled. "Yeah? I wanted them to be very you. And I think they look nice regardless. I'd think this was a good party, if I saw this going about my day."

“Yes,” Watts said, bumping Steven’s shoulder. “As would I. Though,” he winked, “I’ve also an in with one of the party organizers, so I’m quite confident that it shall be.”

"I've it on good authority that one of the people throwing this party is very handsome," Steven said, bumping shoulders in return. "And kind. Understanding. Wonderful. Supportive of his beau when he's being a coward."

Steven might still be thinking about their conversation from the other night.

“How odd,” Watts mused. “That’s how I would describe the person I was thinking of. Though I would also add that his face is pleasingly symmetrical.”

"The person you're thinking of doesn't have to be supportive of a coward because you, Llewellyn Watts, are not a coward," Steven told him. He smiled again. "Though he does like all the other compliments."

“Hmmm, if that’s so than neither are you, Steven Grant,” Watts said firmly. “And I’ll not hear otherwise.”

Stark had gone out in search of something to do (and perhaps to see if other people were being subjected to Santa hats again) and in search of coffee. He had the coffee and oh look, people he knew!

"Are you inviting the whole island?"

Steven did not have a Santa hat on. Possibly because the island realized it would be silly to give one to someone throwing a Hanukkah party. What he did have, though, was a cheerful expression.

"Stark! Hello! Yeah, we are. I mean adults, given the alcohol, but otherwise yeah. Anyone who'd like food and company."

[stykera]

As if that sort of thing ever stopped the island before!

"I hope you have room for everyone," Stark said. "And enough food."

"Food is no problem," Steven said. "We're going to have loads of things for everybody. Might even be leftovers for people to take home."

Unless Raiden was able to make it. In which case they'd have enough food to maybe count as an amuse bouche for him.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" Stark asked. "Something I can bring?"

"Yourself if you can make it," Steven said. "Oh - speaking of help. Thank you. Again. Took your advice and it was spot on as always."

[stykera]

"What advice?" Stark asked. "And of course I'll make it. After I'm done at the clinic for the day I'll be there."

Maybe with crab themed Hanukkah items, who could say?

Steven smiled. As much as he knew their friends would be supportive about the party, it was still nice to hear it all the same. Not that he was anxious about no one showing up or anything.

"About Summer," Steven said. "You told me be honest with her. So I was. About everything."

Steven gave Stark a look to indicate he knew what Steven meant by everything. "And she was brilliant about it. Even wanted to meet Marc. Don't think it could've gone better, actually. That's all you, made me do that. So thank you."

[stykera]

"Oh, that's good," Stark said, offering a smile. "Very good. I'm glad it went well. She's good at listening. Did she meet Marc then?"

[pocketpretzels]

“Not the children,” Watts clarified. “But otherwise anyone who would care to.”

[stykera]

Stark nodded, Santa hat pompom bobbling a bit as he did so. "Summer hires people to keep them out, sometimes. And to keep watch for raccoons at least the once."

[pocketpretzels]

“Is that a concern?” Watts asked. “Them trying to get in to the party?”

Did he mean the students or the raccoons? Or both?

[stykera]

"The raccoons really only bother me and they've been quiet. And the students have their own things to do, I think. And some of them will have gone home for the break. I don't think you need to worry."

Also Summer threw somewhat legendary parties. Watts and Steven had a long way to go before they could achieve anything like her reputation.

Well, Watts and Steven were really only aiming for enjoyable, they didn’t need to be legendary.

“Good,” Watts said. “I’m glad the raccoons haven’t been bothering you, though.”

It was best not to try and compete with Summer, really.

"So am I."

Even if they had been suspiciously quiet of late.

"I don't need that ever again."

Stark had enough to deal with without wildlife kidnapping him.

“How have you been?” Watts asked. “Aside from not bothered by raccoons.”
