The Magpie Emporium, Monday [13/02]
Vi was having a morning of it. She was twitchy and hyped up and so distracted that she'd completely forgotten she had class this morning. Oops.
It didn't help that she was setting up a display of games people might want to play during that weird dating holiday thing coming up and which inevitably led to thinking about Steph, and given that she might've already tended towards having something of a one-track mind where certain people and situations were concerned, suddenly being even more so was...frustrating to say the least.
The moment the display was finished and she didn't have that to distract herself with, she crossed her arms on the counter dropped her head down against them and groaned.

"You know," she said from the office, "I was thinking of doing a two-for-one game lounge admission special for tomorrow, but that might just end up being a bad idea, so..."
If that sounded muffled, it was because she, too, was facedown on the desk.
Maybe she should just not leave her desk all day if she could help it. Social distancing Fandom style, woo.

"Such a bad idea," she agreed, giving in to her own bad idea by coming over to lean in the office doorway.

Luckily she kept her head down and didn't actually look up at -- okay, yeah, she did. Just for a second! Just enough that she made a little whining noise in her throat as she put her head back down, which didn't help at all.
"Wouldn't want to give Little Bot that much extra work to do," she said in a choked voice.

"Plus that's way more than I ever want to know about most people here," said Steph, who had not yet thought about the ramifications of having to do radio this week.
Mostly because she was distracted as hell and... could she actually pick up on Vi's scent when she came closer or was her imagination just that vivid right now?

Saffron heroically attempted to save them from themselves by running over and demanding Vi snuggles right now, but, well, Vi had two hands and only needed one to hold the cat...
"Yeah, they can find other places where we'd never have to think about them like that." Because was hard enough not to think of Steph like that as she reached out to rub her back, when she was definitely just trying to comfort her, oh yes. There was no enjoyment in touching Steph here at all.
no subject
Rhetorical sarcasm aside, Saffron definitely wasn't enjoying it, because one-handed snuggles were clearly inferior when Vi had two hands, and when she was forced to share Vi's attention with Food Human it was almost an insult. (It would be an insult for sure from anyone who wasn't Snuggle Human. Never mind that nobody else got the honor of being allowed to snuggle her. It was the principle of the thing.)
"On the other hand, it might be nice for the people who have no interest in any, uh, urges this week to have some place to go," she said, although she sounded like she needed to be convinced of this.
Let's be real, she really just wanted an excuse to close up early tomorrow night.

"I mean, I'd figure that any place people were being social tomorrow was a danger zone." Very helpful there, Vi.
no subject
She didn't have to elaborate on what she meant by that, right?
no subject
"I'd hate for you to be stuck somewhere not having fun." She did not, and right now, doing so would probably be another in that line of bad ideas they had going on.
no subject
"Not to sound like I don't love running this place, because I do," Steph felt the need to elaborate. "But it's this week, and it's on this island, so... you know."
Still not elaborating, for the sake of making it through the rest of the day, but it was fuel for her imagination anyway.
no subject
"I mean, I can think of a few things that make this better than the last week I felt like this." Though those long hours of repression and denial were coming in super handy right now.
no subject
"Aw, and that was your first week working here, too," Steph said with a soft laugh. "I'm still not sure how you even made it through the day without losing your mind."
no subject
"Me either," Vi said, smiling back. "I had to take a lot of cold showers that week, because this island has a lot of hot girls on it." And Steph was the hottest, obviously.
no subject
"God, I know, right? I was basically up all night every night on the drums," she admitted, "except for the one night I went over to the mainland to pick up a one night stand."
no subject
"I made out with Illyana a little bit, but otherwise it was punching stuff and cold showers," Vi said, tilting her head to the side. "Oh, yeah, was she cute?"
If she'd known about this at the time, she'd probably have pretended she wasn't jealous of this random girl, but right now her imagination was providing some very pretty pictures.
no subject
"Cute enough, I guess. It was dark in the club." Steph shrugged. "I -- don't actually think I remember her name, even. She was down for a good time, no strings, and that was the important part."
She grinned wryly.
"Man. When I was giving you the tour of the store last year, your imagination had to be getting out of control, huh?"
Not that the question was prompted by anything she'd been thinking about today!
no subject
"Just a bit." Not that it was currently running wild with the idea of Steph having anonymous encounters in a club, or anything. "It didn't help that half of what you were saying came out the wrong way."
no subject
"God, I know," she said sheepishly. "I wasn't trying to get you all wound up. I'm sorry." Yes, still.
no subject
"I knew that," Vi said with a rueful grin. "It made it even more frustrating."
no subject
"Worst first day ever," Steph said with a sigh as she started to reach for Vi's hand. Her fingertips just barely brushed against Vi's skin, her brain immediately shorted out for a moment, and she dropped her hand again with a huff of frustration. "I feel like I still need to make up for it."
no subject
"You don't," Vi said, sincerely, somehow managing not to drop Saffron. She licked her lips. "Unless you really want to?"
no subject
"This week?" Steph cleared her throat like that was going to make her cheeks less flushed. "Hell yeah, I really want to."
She could have sworn Saffron just looked at her.
"After work, of course."
no subject
Vi swallowed noticeably, eyes fixed on Steph "Yeah, I'd like that. After work."
How long until her shift ended, again?
no subject
"As long as you let me go long enough to do radio in the morning, we don't have to go anywhere the rest of the day after that," Steph managed, her eyes fixed on Vi's throat after that swallow.
See, that would solve the issue of whether to have that Valentine's special handily!
