Buck had been taking a daily Zyrtec for years now, so he was acting totally normal this week. He wasn't completely oblivious, however, and did notice that Eddie was working out more than usual and that he actually was getting some interesting calls.

He had been on a call to get someone out of handcuffs before, but three in one day was a record.

He was whirling the three sets of handcuffs through his fingers as he got back to the station. Weird how everybody was too embarrassed to take them back. The furry ones were cute!

Don't mind the alien in the borrowed Fandom FD hoodie coming down the stairs, Buck. He was just leaving! For now.

But he was giving those handcuffs a very curious look as he noticed them. They weren't his sort of thing but three pairs was enough to raise his eyebrow. Hey, good for Buck.

"Hello, Buck."

"Hey, dude," Buck said. "Want a pair? There's no keys with them though, so I think it's for decorative purposes, unless you're good at lockpicking."

Stark's eye widened and he quickly shook his head.

"No. No thank you. You should keep them! Or you could ask Travis? He might..."

There was a thought! They were both pretty firefighters!

Although somehow the idea of Travis with the fuzzy handcuffs was also a very interesting one all of a sudden.

"I mean, I was just gonna stick them in the junk drawer with all the leftover confetti," Buck said, shrugging. "Weird how nobody wanted them back after I got them out of the cuffs."

"They aren't all yours?" Stark asked. "I thought perhaps you... had a collection."

[firehousehimbo]

"Huh? Oh, no, these aren't mine," Buck said, not embarrassed at the suggestion. He was no stranger to handcuffs, though usually they belonged to someone else.

"I had three calls this morning where I had to save people handcuffed to their beds." Safe sex didn't just mean condoms, people. Always know where you put your handcuff keys.

"Oh." Stark's eyebrow went up again as he considered the idea of any of those handcuffs belonging to anyone he knew.

"It is that sort of week."

"What, Valentine's?" Buck had conveniently been away the last time this happened.

"You don't know?" Stark asked, startled. "I thought everyone knew. It's not... bothering you? The pollen?"

[firehousehimbo]

"Oh, no, I take an allergy pill every day," Buck said. "Got an issue with ragweed."

And apparently it worked against horny pollen, huzzah!

"I didn't know that worked on this sort of pollen," Stark said.

He couldn't tell if Buck was lucky or not.

"This is... different."

"How so?" Sometimes Buck needed stuff spelled out for him.

No matter how embarrassing it might be for the other person.

"You haven't noticed anyone acting... oddly?" Stark asked with a significant glance (that may have lingered a bit) at the handcuffs.

"Since Sunday? Restless? Distracted? Full of... energy?"

Stark, you had hooked up with a vampire last night in his office why were you having trouble spelling this out now?

"I mean, I guess Eddie has been going to the gym a lot," Buck said. "And I got wolf-whistled at by a barista, but that's happened before."

Look, one time he got hit on by a woman immediately after getting her head out of the tailpipe of a truck, his definition of odd was different than others.

"And I guess that is a lot of handcuff problems to have in one day..."

Buck, you were a pretty firefighter. Of course people were always hitting on you.

"It tends to just... encourage everyone to act on those impulses," Stark said with a nod. "Everyone is just... horny."

Look, there wasn't really a better word.

Buck snorted. "That's hilarious."

That explained so much. It became funnier the more he thought about it and he started to laugh. "I'm gonna give Eddie so much shit, oh my god."

Eddie would probably rather Buck were giving him something else but Stark was not going to comment on that.

"It can get very uncomfortable," Stark pointed out. "You should be kind."

Maybe very kind. Very giving, even.

"Pfft," Buck said, waving a hand. "I have best friend privilege. He can rag on me next time something dumb happens."

[stykera]

"Revenge," Stark said with a sage nod. "You might deserve it."

Should someone check on Eddie though?

"And that is his right as my best friend," Buck said with a grin. He gestured to Stark's hoodie. "You seem to be dealing with this okay."

[stykera]

"I decided this year it was easier to..."

Be easy? Live his best slutty life?

"Not fight it," Stark said, glancing down at the borrowed hoodie. "It seems to be working."

It was working great! And mostly keeping him from thinking about someone who was very firmly off- limits.

"Hey, man, good for you," Buck said. "I used to be like that, only without the pollen."

[stykera]

"I'm not," Stark said. "Usually. But this year has been... different. So this week, this year, is different."

He might have some regrets eventually but so far things were enjoyable.

[firehousehimbo]

"Well just as some friendly advice, don't let it interfere with your job," Buck said. "I got fired once for hooking up on top of the station, almost ruined my whole career over someone whose name I can't remember."

[stykera]

"On the roof?" Stark asked.

"I wouldn't do anything at work." Probably. "Definitely not at the school but I'm not at the school this time. And not at the clinic."

Even if some of the nurses were hooking up again right now.

[firehousehimbo]

"Yeah. And in the firetruck. It was a bunch of incidents, but the roof was the last straw." Poor, dumb, Buck 1.0. "It's probably a good thing this doesn't affect me."

The truck was an interesting idea...

"In the truck," Stark repeated thoughtfully. "You may be better off without the pollen then. Though i don't think Travis would fire you."

Travis had been in a very good mood, after all.
