Ching Tai - Saturday Lunchtime

Cutter had made handwavey plans with Connor for a lunch date at Ching Tai and he was trying to not feel so nervous about the lunch. It had been so long since he had enjoyed a lunch date, at least a year but he was also looking forward to spending time with Connor. He hadn’t gotten too dressed up, choosing to dress in his usual jeans and a blue collared shirt, he had at least made sure to change the shirt to a different one that he had worn last week on their date to the museum.

He got to the restaurant rather early and then realised that was definitely a mistake because he found himself pacing up and down outside, trying not to think about that he could screw this up.

[Cutter is here for Connor but Ching Tai is open for any and all Chinese food needs!]

Connor couldn't help but grin as he walked up and saw Cutter pacing back and forth. He had kept the dress code pretty normal for him, though the slight nip in the air made it a little more comfortable to manage his typical layers.

"You're acting as nervous as a caged velociraptor," he said fondly as he walked up to Cutter with a grin.

Cutter relaxed as soon as he saw Connor, "you made it," he said with a relieved smile as Connor approached him, not that he thought Connor wouldn't turn up but it had played on his mind for a bit.

He smiled fondly at Connor, "I hope Chinese is okay," he added, nodding at the door, "I'm quite fond of it myself, there's a Chinese takeout I like ordering from back home that I get all the time,"

"Chinese is perfect, Nick" he said with a grin as he slipped an arm around Cutter and kissed his cheek. "Easily on my top three list." Not that Connor Temple was one to ever really turn down food of any sort.

Cutter smiled at the kiss on the cheek, Chinese had been his choice and while he normally didn't care so much about other people's opinions he did care about what Connor thought and was thrilled when Connor was fine with with it, "well then you should love this place, I've ordered from here a few times - just as good as the takeout from home," he told him, leaning against Connor as he wrapped his arm around him.

"Sounds perfect," Connor said with a grin as he slipped an arm around Cutter and headed towards the door, opening it and reluctantly letting go so they could walk in more easily.

Cutter was rather reluctant to let go of Connor but it did make it easier for them to walk inside.

Thankfully it didn't seem to be busy so they were able to be seated straight away.

"What do you think you're going to have for lunch?"

Connor grabbed Cutter's hand in a compromise and gave it a squeeze as they walked in and took their seats.

"I was thinking maybe some sushi.... but curry chicken also sounds really good..." Connor said as he looked over the menu for a minute. "What abut you?"

Cutter smiled at the gentle squeeze and gave a gentle one back.

“curried chicken does sound good, I think I might have that as well, we could get a large fried rice to share between us as well?” he offered.

"Sounds perfect," Connor said with a smile. "Shall we get a double order?"

What, leftovers were amazing! Especially when you were not that great of a cook!

“Double order sounds perfect,” Cutter grinned at that, “we could make a real meal of the leftovers,” he considered with a tilt of his head as he smiled at Connor, “and …” he added, his smile widening, “it means I don’t have to cook,”

Because Cutter trying to cook would only end in disaster.

"Win-win situation then" Connor said with a grin. "Can always take the leftovers back to your place tonight. I just have to make sure Rex is set for the night and then I'd be good."

He had thought about inviting Cutter over to his place for the night but... well the flat was a bit of a disaster... and while his apartment was bigger, Connor just had the cot still so, not really ideal for a stay over. He'd have to remedy that soon....

Cutter smiled warmly at that, “that sounds like a plan, I just have to do a bit of tidying up I got a bit carried away planning for class this week,” he admitted sheepishly. “how is Rex? Has he forgiven me for taking him out in the cold yesterday?”

There was another pause as a thought came to mind, “maybe we could watch a movie as well?” he suggested with a grin, “get some popcorn have a movie night?”

"Ah Rex is fine, I think he really enjoys getting out of the apartment, as much as he seems to protest being removed from HIS couch," Connor said with a small laugh. Funny how like a cat Rex could be in some ways....

"Dinner and a movie? You really are going all out for this date aren't you? "Connor gave him a big grin and leaned over and kissed his cheek. "Sounds absolutely perfect."

“Well he seemed quite attached to your jacket yesterday, I’m pretty sure Rex thinks it’s his,” Cutter laughed.

He smiled happily at the kiss, pleased that Connor seemed to be enjoying himself.

“I’ll even let you pick the movie,” he added with a grin, “but this is going well then? It’s been a while since I’ve planned a date,” he admitted.

"Nick, I could sit in the woods waiting for an anomaly to appear for hours and it would still be amazing because I was with you" Connor said as he pulled Cutter in for a quick side hug. "You done good" he said with a playful wink.

Cutter gratefully returned the hug, however quick it was but the relief he felt was evident, "I was afraid of messing this up," he admitted, "I wasn't even sure that I'd picked a good choice for the restaurant," he added, "it's definitely been a long time since I had lunch with anyone,"

"Well lunch so far is amazing and movie night at your place sounds perfect, so... I'd say you have nothing to worry about!"

Cutter relaxed a bit now that he wasn't so nervous, "so far so good then?" he smiled, "I'm really glad that we're getting to do this,"

"As am I. It's nice to be able to just... hang out. No class. No anomalies. Just us."

"That does make a nice change," Cutter smiled as he leaned back into his chair, "I definitely could get used to this, the two of us being together," he hesitated and then slowly reached his hand out across the table for Connor to take.

Connor took his hand with a smile and gave it a squeeze, not letting go as he did. "It's definitely something I won't say no to more of," he quipped. "I'm glad we get to do this. I like spending time with you."

"I know I'd definitely like more of this," Cutter smiled at the hand squeeze, he was happy to hold on to Connor's hand for as long as possible, "I wouldn't say no to more lunch dates and being able to spend more time with you," he added feeling himself start to go a bit red.

"Well lucky for you, I quite like being with you like this as well" Connor said, giving that hand a squeeze before reluctantly letting it go only because their food finally arrived and he didn't think it would be a good idea to try and eat curried chicken with chopsticks with his left hand. "Ya know, it doesn't even have to be anything big or official. Ya can stop by any time ya want, Nick." Just ya know be prepared for a bit a 'bachelors pad' mess most likely.

Cutter was rather reluctant to let go but he did see the dilemma of not being able to eat their food while they were still holding hands, he picked up his own chopsticks to eat his meal, "I would like that," he said with a smile, "and the same goes for you, you're welcome to stop by as well,"

Cutter's apartment was really not that much better really with all his books and papers strewn everywhere.

"Well, doors usually unlocked" Connor said, far too casually for that kind of lack of security awareness. "And... not like you don't know where to find me" he said around a bite of chicken.
