Luke's Diner; Tuesday [03/14].
It had been something that had been bothering Ignis ever since he returned to Fandom, that, without a prince to look after, without daemons to hunt, without a world to save or rebuild, restless did not even begin to cover how he'd been feeling. He'd never been one to handle idleness well, and it seems that was all he'd had for the last few months, even with the class he was teaching, even with helping Gladio out at the gym, even with offering helpful advice and assistance when applicable with Prompto and the baby.
And so he finally decided to at least put his culinary passions and prowess to good work by picking up a job at the diner at some point last week, and here he was, his first day.
Which happened to be...an incredibly gimmicky one. But at least the focus on pies would make for an easy first day, he imagined, which meant he could afford more time to just getting more acquainted with the layout and vanquishing any doubts regarding his abilities, especially when it came to knife work and his uncanny ability to pick out flavors without even tasting something.
And maybe passing a little judgement.
"No, Greg, there is actually a difference between caramelized and just plain burnt."

"... Mr. Scientia. Hello. I was- unaware you worked here."

It was mostly meant facetiously, of course, but Ignis still wasn't feeling entirely comfortable and familiar with the place enough to be entirely confident in how this was all going to work out, actually.
"What can we get for you?"

He set the coffee in front of Watts first and, a moment later, managed to follow it up with the pie.
"Bon appétit," he offered, with maybe a small ghost of a smile, because the small flash of contentment even from serving up something as simple as a cup of coffee and a slice of pie was all the reminder he needed that this...really was an excellent decision, on his part, if he might say so himself.

"There isn't much to do around here," he said, "and my options on what I can teach are far more limited than they were before, as well. I've never been one to handle idleness very well, but I have always been exceedingly comfortable in or near a kitchen. So this felt like a logical choice, and, luckily for me, the position was available."
...Yes, even Ignis' 'simple answers' really stretched the boundaries of that concept.

Be honoured, Ignis. Watts didn’t usually make anything resembling jokes with people who weren’t Steven (and occasionally Marc).

"Lucky for you, then," he quipped back,"that scarf season is nearly over. But should I decide to switch my knives for needles any time soon, you'll be the first I think of, Detective."
Although he had to admit, wielding a pair of knitting needles to dangerous effect did also seem like it could be quite useful.

“And speaking of comfort, have you got the kitchen layout memorized yet?” he asked, since Ignis seemed to be the type to waste no time in doing so.

Well, maybe if you didn't come in full swing at Greg and his onions right out the gates, Ignis.
"If anything," he said, charitably, "it'll help keep me on my toes."
