Six loaves of soda bread was a truly excessive amount for two people, even if that's how many the amount of buttermilk Danny has bought made, and so Steve now had five of those loaves stacked on Danny's desk with a "PLEASE TAKE THESE AWAY" sign. He'd added a "(THEY'RE GOOD THOUGH") note underneath after five minutes' consideration: he wasn't disparaging Danny's Nana's recipe from the Old Country or whatever, he just didn't need this much white flour in his life.
Steve was in, the Trooper Station smelled like toasted baked goods, and there were piles of paperwork being avoided, as was right and proper for a Monday.
